Coach Boyle starts out by breaking down a 2-3 defensive transition and where and how to attack. This then moves to the half court actions, including screening the zone, overloading, driving and skip passes. He also goes into player placement and matching up for both offensive and rebounding advantages. All of this is conceptual, although he goes into good detail.
;This then moves into plays, Thumbs up and Thumbs down which both involve screening actions on the guard with options for the short corner, high post dropping and opposite corner. Paint across where the guard drags the defense to the wing, pushing the offensive wing to a shallow cut across for a ball reversal and screen on the remaining defensive guard. These are all solid plays I think, and there are more than what I am describing.
Most of the video is about 2-3, probably because it is the most common HS zone. We get to the 1-3-1 at about 45 minutes in. He starts out with some good blob plays against a 1-3-1, before getting into the half court offense and different options and attack points with skip passes.
There is a lot of information here, and he speaks quickly. This isn't perfect, as he tries to cover both 2-3 and 1-3-1 in less than an hour, and the 1-3-1 gets shortchanged a bit with two blobs and a bit of time on attacking. 4/5 stars, interesting but probably should have focused on just one defense.
