Rick Barnes is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee, a position he has held since 2015. Known for building sustainable programs and a disciplined defensive philosophy, Barnes has led the Volunteers to multiple SEC championships and consistent national rankings, including the program's longest stint at No. 1. He is the all-time winningest coach in Tennessee history and one of the most successful active coaches in Division I basketball.

Jerrod Calhoun has established himself as one of the nation's rising head coaches through sustained success at multiple levels of college basketball. He was named head coach at Utah State University in March 2024 and immediately continued the program's winning tradition.

Calhoun came to Utah State after seven seasons at Youngstown State, where he engineered one of the most notable turnarounds in the Horizon League. He led the Penguins to the 2023 Horizon League regular season championship and earned Horizon League Coach of the Year honors after guiding YSU to its first conference title since 1998.

Prior to Youngstown State, Calhoun spent six seasons as head coach at Fairmont State, where he built a national Division II power. Under his leadership, the Falcons made four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and advanced to the national championship game in 2017.

Kevin Carroll was named head coach of Lipscomb University's men's basketball team on April 15, 2025. He returns after two successful seasons at Trevecca Nazarene University, where he led the program to its most wins in history and first-ever South Region Poll ranking. Previously, Carroll served as an assistant coach at Lipscomb from 2019 to 2023.

In his first season at Trevecca Nazarene University, Carroll led the Trojans to remarkable achievements. 

The team was ranked for nine weeks in the D2CSC Midwest Region Media Poll and secured two wins over teams in the Top 25. Demonstrating offensive prowess, the Trojans finished with the second-highest offensive production in the conference. They set a new record for conference wins in the D2 era and achieved the best winning percentage since joining Division II.

Carroll's leadership also resulted in a significant turnaround, improving the overall win total by 14 and the conference win total by 10 compared to the previous season.

In 2017, Coach Kerns inherited a Presbyterian program that had yet to achieve a winning record in 12 seasons at the Division I level and was coming off a five-win campaign in 2016-17. He immediately led the Blue Hose to a six-win improvement in his first year before breaking through in 2018-19.

Kerns guided the Blue Hose to their first winning record (20-16) and first postseason appearance (CIT) as a Division I program in just his second year on the job. PC's 12-3 record at home and 9-7 mark in Big South Conference play are also its best since joining the Division I ranks. For his efforts, Kerns was named as a finalist for both the Hugh Durham Award (top mid-major coach) and the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year.

Kerns has continued his winning ways at Appalachian State. The Mountaineers brought home the Sun Belt tournament championship in 2021 and the regular season championship in 2024.

Coaching Career

Grant Leonard was named head men's basketball coach at Queens University of Charlotte in 2022 after serving six years as associate head coach. He successfully guided the Royals through their NCAA Division I debut in the ASUN Conference, earning 18 wins in his first season. Building on that momentum, Leonard led the program to its first 20-win season in Division I history during the 2024-25 campaign, finishing with a 20-15 record and an 11-7 mark in conference play.

Under his leadership, the Royals earned their first-ever Division I postseason invitation to the 2025 College Basketball Invitational (CBI), where they advanced to the quarterfinals. His impact on the program was further recognized when he was named a finalist for the 2024-25 Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award, which honors coaches who win with moral integrity. He first joined Queens in 2013 and has been a cornerstone of the program's successful transition to the national stage.
