The Blocker/Mover Offensive System

Watching Coach Bennett teach and speak to the players at this clinic is worth the price of the DVD on its own. He is such a phenomenal teach of the game! In terms of the subject matter, I agree with other reviewers... He does not thoroughly cover the Blocker/Mover system in this DVD and only gets to certain aspects. I have not used this system in my program, but I feel that I got enough from the DVD to install it in small doses. Based on this DVD, it is presented like a 3 out, 2 in motion with two designated screeners spaced apart. Maybe its just that simple and its why he doesn't get further into the nuances. Overall, I'll recommend it like I recommend any Dick Bennett tape. He drops knowledge constantly--even just watching him interact with the players.

I will give this DVD a 4-star rating. Like the previous comments, you should have some knowledge of this motion offense before buying. Coach Bennett is a great teacher and this DVD does not disappoint. He starts the DVD off with a some great coaching advice on having a sound offense, in this case motion offense; ball handling, good passing, and good shot selection. After coach talks about why he uses this offense he then shows about 5-8 minutes of game footage and explains some of the terms in the "Blocker/Mover" offense. Coach also goes over how to use this offense against a zone or man defense.

The next phase of the DVD moves into basic catching and passing drills, which covers half court and full court. You get some 1v2 drills and some 2v1 stuff. After the drills, coach moves into a little discussion of the offense in a small group setting (4 players)and then moves on into a 5v5 setting with coach offering instructions. Again, in this DVD coach rarely touches on the normal terms in the B/M offense; Lane/Lane, Top/Bottom, Lane/Wide, or Wide/Wide sets but this does not diminish the DVD in anyway. Great DVD by a great coach. This is a great resource for coaches and their library.

Great video if you are looking for an offense which teaches players how to play. Love how it emphasizes screening, moving without the ball, and reading defenses. I agree with the previous review that it leaves you with some questions if you don't already know the offense. You can clearly tell Coach Bennett is a phenomenal teacher. This offense forces your players to think and have true understanding of the game. Another advantage: the offense is unscoutable because there are no predictable movements.

I think this video is useful for someone who already has some knowledge about the blocker/mover offense.
Bennett provides some game footage which I felt to be very helpful to see the offense working in live game action.

The drills he demonstrates don't relate specifically to the offense, but are good drills that will help a players offensive skills improve.

This video is good to help reinforce knowledge about the offense, but it is limited in terms of showing how to set it up and and run it.

I liked the DVD because it gave me some new ideas for the offense and I have experience with the offense. However, for someone who has never seen or run it, it might leave you with some questions.
