From getting your opponents into foul trouble to getting to the free throw line to creating ‘and 1’ opportunities, only good things can come from attacking the rim. Scott Nagy emphasizes an attacking style of play. His teams have been one of the best at getting to the rim and shooting over 70% from the free throw line. In this video, Coach Nagy showcases the attacking style of play and emphasis on getting in the 10 foot zone to put pressure on your opponents defense. PhilosophyAs part of his favorite drills, Coach Nagy loves attacking the rim. Using 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 drills players will learn to get to the rim quickly and effectively using only a few dribbles. In TFZ 1v1, players play 1v1 inside the 10 foot zone. Offense is focused on attacking the rim and defense is focused on being physical without fouling and using their hands. This is an excellent drill to start out your practice and progressions as players work on both their offensive and defensive skills. In 3v3 TFZ, players continue their 1v1 play and are working on attacking the rim out of different positions on the floor. This is a great drill for working on your helpside defense and getting into the gaps quickly on offense. Rebound Scoring Competitive practices build a strong culture of never giving in or never giving up. Coach Nagy demonstrates several competitive practice drills and ways to make your practices competitive by keeping stats. In Rebound Scoring, your players will love the competitive scoring system and emphasis on building your defense. While still pushing to get shots in the ten foot zone, your defense will learn to be physical without fouling and build their defensive IQ. Players will focus on their blocking out technique and limiting their opponents on the offensive glass. Full Court Practice and Transition Using the same Rebound Scoring concepts you can build a competitive full court drill where you combine blocking out on the defensive end and pushing the ball in transition. You can use a 4v4 and 5v5 setup to help build your players' decision making. You can make this a competitive cut throat game where teams are constantly rotating in and staying on their toes just as an actual keeps you. Making practices competitive brings out the best in players. They learn to push themselves to become their best. Coach Nagy demonstrates how to keep practices both fun and super competitive so you can build your team chemistry, offense, and defense. In this video you get a look at some of Coach Nagy’s favorite practice drills that have helped build his program to become one of the best in both scoring around the rim in the ten foot zone and keeping his players from fouling out - all while being physical!5 out of 5 stars - “Very competitive drills and perfect for teaching players to attack the paint. Coach Nagy’s Rebound scoring drill is a perfect drill to show your players how to play tough nose defense.”72 minutes. 2023.
