This offense gets all five players involved and provides scoring options in the post, perimeter, ways to attack mismatches, and plenty of room for players to make reads. Offense Basics

The offense starts in a three out two in set up, with posts on the perimeter and guards on the blocks. Coach Whitcomb talks about different ways to initiate the offense and the possible reads that will manifest from each. The down screen option is then described in detail including scoring options and the continuity. Once the ball finds a side, the wings screen away and the corner options open for the post players. To add variety to the offense, the post players can cross screen for one another, and the guards can also back screen for the posts.

If the ball goes to the corner, you will have multiple scoring opportunities. After a pass to the wing the post player posts up hard and then cuts out to the corner. Once the ball gets to the corner you can hit the three, attack the baseline, hit the cutter for a give and go, or let the cutter post up and look for a high low.

Entries and Plays

In the next segment of the presentation, Coach Whitcomb talks about using the L cut to get the guards open on the wing for isolation attacks. Using a 1-4 low alignment, Whitcomb shows multiple ways to score, including the L cut. In this formation the guard up top has the choice to attack the defense for a jumper or to attack and kick to the posts on the blocks. Other options out of this set include, high lows, pin screens, and post up looks. Cyclone is a play that uses two ball screens and is a great way to get an open jumper. A double ball screen set is also shown that is sure to give the defense fits.

Drills

To conclude the video, Coach Whitcomb shares drills that you can use to work on the skills required for this offense to be successful. From post drills to ball handling drills, Coach Whitcomb gives you a solid foundation for getting started with this new offense. A 3 on 0 drill will help your guards up top learn the reads and proper screening angles. Then, to wrap things up several shooting drills are demonstrated to work on game shots from game spots. 

This is a great offense that is easy to install but will be tough for defenses to guard. The options and the set plays will put you and your team on the way to success this season!
