Pat Summitt, University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, recorded her 1,000 career victory against SEC foe Georgia. In her 35th year in Knoxville, Summitt is the first coach, man or woman, to reach the 1,000-win plateau. Summitt, the most winningest basketball coach, has improved her career record to 1,000-186.
Summit is an 8X NCAA champion, 14X SEC regular-season champion, 13X SEC tournament champion, and has been named SEC Coach of the Year seven times and NCAA Coach of the Year seven times. In 2000, Summitt was named the Naismith Coach of the Century.
