Features & Benefits In this video you will learn how to: Use a constant forward-moving, grinding pressure to ride and break down opponents Turn your opponents from four effective breakdowns Flow from one breakdown to another, completely exhausting your opponent Return your opponent to the mat with Mark Ironside,2x NCAA Champ and 4x All-American at the University of Iowa; 1998 Dan Hodge Trophy winnerThe difference between a good wrestler and a great wrestler is knowing how to break your opponent down and keep him down. Dan Hodge Trophy winner Mark Ironside teaches the skills necessary to dominate from the top position. His techniques center on applying constant, grinding pressure and the importance of always having forward pressure from the top position. Coach Ironside demonstrates four breakdowns that span all the various levels of wrestling, and explains the finer points of each. He shows the Chop & Drive, Deep Waist Far Ankle, Spiral Ride, and Hook Ankle. He also shares six effective turns from these breakdowns, explaining the best option to use depending on how the bottom man reacts. He demonstrates a base drill to make wrestlers work both sides of their opponent, training them to flow from one breakdown to another until the opponent is exhausted. This also serves as a great conditioning drill. He concludes the video by demonstrating how to return an opponent to the mat once they reach their feet. You'll see two versions-- how to bring him to the mat by elevating him and another by rotating him down from his hips. Go from good to great with these top breakdowns and skills. 53 minutes. 2014. Ratings & Reviews The Art of Breakdowns: Creating Constant Grinding Pressure on April 1, 2015 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by iveyleaguemma WOW is all I need to say. This DVD was $40 bucks well spent. I learned a bunch of new tips and tricks that, shocking as it may be, had never seen before in 20+ years of training. Just like with his other dvd's, attention to detail sets this video apart from the rest. No doubt this one's a keeper and thanks Championship Productions for once again coming through! I'll be honest I didn't really know what to expect but after watching about 10 minutes of it I knew it was well worth the investment. Ironside shows a bunch of different ways to keep the pressure on and wear guys down. I really like how he ties in his own training stories to help you better understand the techniques. Really cool stuff, highly recommended. Was this review helpful? Yes No The Art of Breakdowns: Creating Constant Grinding Pressure on February 19, 2015 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by BernardoMedina I own over 50 Wrestling DVDs and have watched them multiple times. Obviously with that many they cover every topic known to wrestling. I have heard breakdown theories and strategies from John Smith, Askren Brothers, Dave Mills, Erik Akin, Wade Schalles to name a few. I bought this DVD thinking I might get a pearl or two and that's about it but I got MUCH more. I have to tell you that Mark Ironside literally EMBARRASSES the competition with this DVD. The only one equally or near as good is John Smith's Breakdown DVD, but honestly Mark Ironside might have him beat by a little. I'd say this DVD is a MUST have!!! I bought Mark's Ironside's Sitback DVD and reviewed that one too. For that one I said he leaves you wanting more explanation and more information. But this one is way more thorough and better dvd by him. 4 of 4 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful?
