One of Coach Shondell’s hallmarks has always been solid, smart defense.

Coach Shondell starts the video with the importance of blockers and their knowledge of where the opponent likes to attack. He uses a drill to work with individual blockers then adds a second blocker to work together on defending against outside attackers and then brings in a whole front line to work against a 2 attack team.

Coach Shondell brings in the back row to show the position and movement of the players against different zone attacks. Shondell shows what to do against pipe attacks and setters who like to dink.

This video demonstrates how to incorporate the box defense starting with your blockers as an individual to a double block, then adding in your back row to show and teach their positioning and movement.
