This video, featuring Minnesota State University associate head coach Chris Parno, presents the principles of velocity and speed for the sprinting events. Coach Parno uses a PowerPoint presentation as well as video and photo analysis of elite and college sprinters to construct a "coaching model" on proper sprint form that you can adopt in order to take your sprint program to new heights!

Max Velocity Philosophy

Coach Parno shares detailed information on stride length, stride rate, air time, and then presents how to improve and measure each element.

Drills and Methodology

Within this video, you will find over 30 different drills to enhance sprint form and speed. Coach Parno uses the basics of the venerable "Mach A-B-C" technique drills with never-before-seen adaptations to help you produce the best possible running technique in your sprinters. The drills are presented in both regular speed and slow motion to assist in the understanding of his variations. Additionally, charts and graphs are presented to help establish "Wicket" drill settings for speed workouts.

A particular emphasis is placed on advanced front-side mechanic drills. Coach Parno will show you how to run drills such as:

I've been coaching sprints and horizontal jumps for more than 30 years from youth to high school. I really enjoy seeing the excitement in young athletes when they see growth, development and have success. I ordered this video as a way to re-energize and remind myself of the basics and importance of front-side mechanics to speed training. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Chris Parno puts together the sequencing and reinforces and emphasizes the critical points that are all relative to speed development. No Fluff, No confusing theory, just practical applications from start to finish. It was like I was seeing all of this for the first time again.
