Putting the ball in the back of the net is so much more than shooting. Spend a session with Coach Brooke Eubanks as she explains her best shooting and finishing drills in her office on a white board, then takes you to the field as her Cal-Berkeley team goes through a set of seven drills! Using drills designed with maximum creativity and flexibility built in, you will learn to train your players to be effective inside the critical scoring area under various circumstances and pressure.

Shooting While Marked

Using football dummies, Coach Eubanks has her players work on engaging a defender while getting their stick around the defender for a shot opportunity. Progressing from "hands on" the defender, to steeping away and into them, you'll see how to create and capitalize on opportunities that will catch the goalkeeper unaware. Eubanks also shows how to:

• Get creative with your 8m dodging as you follow your teammates through their patterns.
• Dodge defenders, from a variety of angles, and extend your stick around them.
• Create scoring opportunities that both the defense and goalie will not expect.

Shooting Through Contact

Learn to play through contact while in the process of getting to a shooting lane. Using a blocking pad to initiate contact, teach your players how to get bumped, take the contact, and still take the ball to goal while your elbows and hands are under attack. Coach Eubanks hits on three main segments:

• Contact on the dodge. You'll see how to work on maintaining possession of the ball and momentum along your path.
• Contact on catch. Practice taking the contact and still gaining possession of the ball into your cut.
• Contact while shooting. How to finish your opportunity strong while under body contact!

Competitive Around The World

Eubanks shows to how amp up a simple shot placement drill by adding a high level of competition and game-like intensity! You can run this drill as either a timed team competition, or as an individual competition as demonstrated. As with all of her drills, Eubanks shows how it is flexible enough for you to adopt to the specific finishing pattern you want to work on with your players.
