Special teams play has been a key to Ripon High Schools 38-2 record over the past three seasons. Coach Kelm believes that special teams must receive as much emphasis in practice and planning as offense and defense. Being aggressive and calculated make this special teams' package effective. Ten unique situations make up this special teams package. These areas include kick off, onside kick, kick off return, hands team, punt, punt fake, punt block, punt return, extra point/field goal and fake extra point/field goal. The punt game, onside package, punt block systems make it difficult for the opponent to prepare for Ripon. In all, 20% of all plays in a high school game are special team situations. To say this is the complete guide to special teams is a stretch. It's not very detailed at all and if you are a coach looking to learn the kicking game DO NOT buy this DVD. He covers some scheme, but not in much detail. I'm usually happy with purchases from Championship Productions, but I was not happy with this DVD especially since it is pricey. Also, when coach puts on the film I felt I went back in time to 1983 very grainy and hard to see.

I was really impressed by this dvd. Coach went through a very detailed explanation of special teams play. I run the pistol flex offense and when coach introduced his punt formations and what he could do with it, my mind went into overdrive. I also liked the kick-off schemes and the variations one can do with it. All in all, I was impressed with the dvd and I can't wait to implement this scheme into our play.
