The Defensive Coordinator of the prolific Sioux Falls program from 1999 through 2009, Chuck Morrell was in charge of one of the most dominating defensive units in the country. In 2008 the Cougars allowed only 94.7 passing yards per game, were able to sack opposing quarterbacks 35 times and shut out their opponents in 7 out of 14 games. I am a DC of a 4A HS team in Iowa. We are a 4-3/3-4 team that will run our 3-4 as a nickel package as well as to dial up some run stunts. We are able to put extra speed on the field and attack the quarterback, while keeping our coverage options the same or strengthening the ones that we have by putting two extra edge defenders on the field. This DVD shows four pass blitzes, of which we have incorporated two (Blast, Trade). These blitzes overwhelm the OL and create pressure consistently. There are also great segments on how to fit the bubble and what we call the "now" screen or quick screen. We are playing a team that spreads the field and throws it 90% of the time and we think this DVD will give us a definite advantage. This gives a great ability to run a more versatile pass rush, as well as give you the base for creating your own pressure ideas. I give this DVD a 4 because of the on field examples, but I would have liked to see some practice demo's with it. We have decided to have a DB stemming/DL-LB blitz session where we focus on our specials.
