5-Star rating
The reason why I am giving this DVD a 5-star rating is because coach offers great drills on passing, offensive and defensive transition drills, and several zone offensive zone looks.
With the passing drills, coach gives you a perfect passing drill where players pass the ball around and exchange positions for 20-30 seconds. If any player drops the ball, the drill starts over. Coach covers a 60 pass drill, in which teams pass the ball around with the goal of being the first team to 60. In this DVD coach reduces the passes down to 30 passes, which is ideal. I tried the 60 pass drill once and I had to reduce the drill down to 20..because of time.
Another great drill coach shares is 76er Drill. This is a great offensive and defensive transition drill. It covers so many areas of basketball and it helps because as a high school coach, my time is limited and having multiple drills that covers several areas helps to move practice along.
The meat of the DVD is covered next. Coach shares several offensive looks in order to battle a zone defense. He covers three ways to go after a zone (Set plays, continuity plays, and motion plays. Coach believes that you should be able to use all three looks in order to attack a zone, an I agree. He shows "White", "White Hot", "High" just to name a few of the plays. He also has a few plays in order to attack a 1-2-2/3-2 zone defense. Also thrown into this very informational DVD is 4 principles, that coach believes, are ways to attack a zone defense. (1. Get the ball into the high post, 2. Don't settle for jump shots, 3. Set screens, and 4). Get players moving and have some ball movement).
Lastly, coach shares some solid coaching tips on coaching and how to stay grounded as a coach.
This is a 5-star DVD. Great reference material. Great advice. Awesome
