The Princeton Offense: Back Door to Success

Coach Piggot does a great no nonsense 'get right into' nuts and bolts of the Princeton. My kind of coach. No wasted time. 100% great.

Just reviewed this as we are looking to add some Princeton concepts to our offense. There is nothing on the point/high post series in this dvd and chin is very lightly touched on. It is very heavy on the low post set which I feel is less usable now with more teams looking to have an open ball side post. A lot of sets but not a real good way to flow into offense from one set to another.Drills were sparse and not tied into concepts that were being shown. The first Lee Deforest DVD is a better intro to the offense or the Richmond All Access DVDs. I would not recommend this for coaches wanting to look at the Princeton offense

Agree with Anonymous' 1* rating. Nothing against Coach Pigott here. It's just misleading as you really don't learn the nuances, thought processes, or purpose of the warmup, drills, and "sets" of this great offense. I have seen many Princeton style dvds and been lucky enough to catch a few clinics and practice sessions (from Mr. Carril, to Joe Scott, to Coach Mooney, to Kevin McGeehan, and Lee Deforest). Any of those clinics will suit your needs more appropriately than this production IF the true Princeton style is something you wish to investigate.

I have bought almost all the Princeton Offense videos off of this website and this is by far the worst. No point series information, a little info about the Chin series, and other than the fact that the spots on the floor are the same I wouldn't even classify this as Princeton Offense. No in game footage and few breakdown drills. Buy one of the others on this website as they are all good. This one is not worth fifty dollars.

Not exactly traditional Princeton offense, probably the reason you would purchase this DVD. While Pigotts system does have sound principles and can be adapted as Princeton-type rules for your own motion offense it is generally not what you have seen Ivy League teams run in season. The exception is the Chin series, which can be used as a solid continutity, other then that the DVD is motion concepts that can be used for Princeton or any other type of offense. Overall its solid information, just might not be what your looking for.

This tape is long and detailed.
Coach Pigot shows many different options starting from the basic Princeton positions.
I really liked the idea to go through the complete offensive opportunities given by this system (high post, low post, vs. zones, out of bounds).
My only reason to not give it a 5-star review is that I would have liked more drills to build the offens in it. But this is a very good tape overall.

Thid DVD is definitely the best of the Princeton Offense products. Coach Piggot shows the nuts and bolts of the Princeton style of play so you can lift the options you want to implement without getting dragged down by philosophy. If you want the fastest approach to the Princeton style, this is easily the way to go.
