As an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns, Phil Weber had a front-row seat to an offensive style of play called The Phoenix Offense - but known widely as : ‘7 Seconds or Less,’; he helped refine and coach this high-octane, up-tempo system that relies on spacing the floor with shooters and implementing innovations in the pick-and-roll game.

In this video, you will get an in-depth breakdown of this explosive Phoenix offense system that includes both whiteboard lecture and on-the-court demonstrations to help you learn the philosophy behind the offense including critical details for executing the fast break and a highly valuable presentation of over 30 sets utilized within this system.

Playing Fast, Quick-Hitting Transition PlaysPlaying fast is more than just a mindset. Coach Weber starts things off by sharing valuable transition details that will shave seconds off your fast break through white board lectures and on-court demonstration. By using these explosive principles, your team will become better at sprinting the floor, sharing the ball and seamlessly flowing into initial quick-hitting actions.

You’ll learn coaching points on effectively utilizing the trailer and see why the trailing players play a critical role as decision-maker in this offense. Plus, Coach Weber unveils four components for setting effective ball screens that kill any type of defensive coverage when properly executed.

Coach Weber explains how and why defenses are more easily exploited with actions early in the shot clock and showcases five quick-hitting series of plays that can be run in transition.

Up-Tempo Sets, Maximizing Ball Screens

Next up, is an informative presentation on how to unleash your team’s playmakers with ball screens in drag, dribble-drag, and double-drag actions. Coach Weber covers multiple wrinkles off these main actions and shows how these plays further confuse defenders by changing things up by utilizing handoffs and a variety of cuts.

Coach Weber follows up with several proven techniques that cause headaches for defenses by using multiple screening actions and highlights four explosive options from the ‘21 Series.’ He then shows how you can activate your weak-side offensive players by executing a wide pin-down screen and showcases five different plays from the ‘Quick Series’ that takes advantage of these actions. Weber also shows how ‘Quick’ can be used as an effective tactic for getting an early look for an elite shooter.

Any great offense must also possess the ability to execute in the half court as well. Coach Weber offers an inside look at 17 set plays that can be used any time the possession is slowed down including three different ways to space the floor for ball screens.

The ‘Angle Series’ alone offers four different options for attacking defenses with an empty corner ball screen, as well as six plays from the ‘2-Down Series’ that integrates multiple screening options for post ups or shooters.

Coach Weber also shows a variety of options from the Horns alignment with five additional calls in the ‘Elbow Series.’ These plays are ideal for transforming your post players into a playmaker while occupying nearby teammates in actions such as flex screens, pin-down screens, and staggered screens.

This video is jam-packed with terrific plays and strategic coaching information that can be easily merged into your own fast-break or secondary break systems, as well as your half-court attack.

But, if used as a full-fledged, high-octane style of up-tempo basketball, the information Coach Weber provides in this video, hands coaches ‘the keys to the sports car’ of offensive systems, an offense that has pioneered the way modern basketball is played!

This is a must-watch coaching video for basketball coaches at all levels of play!

Before the Phoenix ‘7-Second or Less’ Offense could run circles around NBA defenses, this innovative offensive philosophy had to be developed behind the scenes through hours of study and hard work in practice. Phil Weber, a long-time assistant coach for Mike D’Antoni, and one of the minds that built this system from the ground up, worked on making this high-octane style of play, an easy offense to understand, implement and teach.

In this video, you will learn seven practice drills that emphasize a variety of set plays that were used by the Suns coaching staff as teaching tools for the Phoenix ‘7-Second or Less’ Offense. Each of these drills are designed to break down specific plays within the offense. You’ll have clear strategies for rehearsing most of the playbook with the practice drills showcased in this video.Teaching Points, Drills & Quick Hitters

Coach Weber uses the whiteboard and on-court demonstration to teach four build-up drills that will help your players learn the execution of transition quick hitters such as drag ball screens, quicks, and the 21 series. These drills provide an excellent way to review all the different defensive coverages you will see against these actions.

The 5-on-0 Offensive Progression drill helps your players understand the pace and timing of plays such as Drag, Dribble Drag, and Double Drag.  You will also learn how the drill can incorporate progressions to emphasize ball movement or test your team’s execution versus defenders.

Set Play Series And Drills

Three drills are shown to teach your players the different options in the Elbow series. With just three players you can review the execution of screening actions that are essential in Coach Weber’s ‘Strong,’ ‘Weak’ and ‘Middle’ sets.

Coach Weber then moves to the whiteboard to explain how his teams would drill four plays within the ‘2-Down’ series, before moving to on-court demonstration, where he breaks down all the nuances of what he calls, ‘1-Pop’ - a critical technique for making this play work.

This video is an important complementary component and teaching tool for coaches who want to incorporate a high-octane style of play with their team!

As a longtime member of the Phoenix Suns coaching staff under Mike D’Antoni, Phil Weber helped develop and refined an offensive style of play called, The Phoenix Offense -‘7 Seconds or Less,’  - a high-octane, up-tempo system that relies on spacing the floor with shooters and implementing innovations in the pick-and-roll game.

In this video, you will get an in-depth breakdown of options to make this offense even more explosive and tough-to-guard, while providing you with a plethora of options to counter defensive adjustments.

Pick-And Roll Options: Concepts, Execution & Run In TransitionCoach Weber dives right into the action with an on-the-court session that showcases his most-deadly and effective options that you can use off a variety of pick-and-roll situations within the framework of The Phoenix Offense-style of play.

First, he shows a high pick-and-roll option called ‘Houston’ which takes advantage of the spacing that occurs when the opposing big player is lifted from the paint and beyond the 3-point arc. The ball handler uses the pick-and-roll action and has the choice to drive to the basket or hit the screener diving hard to the basket. The spacing of teammates beyond the 3-point line stresses any collapsing defenders and makes this high-screening action even tougher to defend in multiple areas on the perimeter. Coach Weber follows up with demonstrations of other highly effective pick-and-roll actions used in up-tempo, full-court transition situations called ‘Angle Corner,’ ‘Angle,’ ‘Angle Dive’ (which takes advantage of the weak side) and ‘Angle Dive II.’

Counters To Defensive Adjustments

Next, Coach Weber shows off several terrific options to unleash on the defense after they’ve become accustomed to defending the Angle series, beginning with a set called ‘Fist-Up Short’ which is an option that’s especially effective for those teams who have two offensively talented bigs. This is followed up with other options and counters called ‘2-Down Roll,’ ‘2-Down Bump,’ ‘4-Pop Roll.’ ‘4-Pop At,’ ‘Roll Fist 3,’ ‘Roll Fist 3 With a Slip’ and more. Once again, Coach Weber dissects these plays and breaks them down with coaching points and then runs the same plays in transition, at top speed.

The Elbow Series, with plays such as ‘Elbow Strong,’ ‘Elbow Weak’ (a weak-side stagger), ‘Middle,’ ‘Elbow Get,’ ‘Elbow Middle’ and a variety of other sets with each one taught and demonstrated as additional counter measures designed to provide space and give defenses different looks.

This video is fully loaded with creative offensive ideas, game-tested concepts, quick-hitting plays and strategic coaching information that complement The Phoenix Offense attack making this up-tempo, modern offense even more explosive and tough for opponents to defend!

Best of all, the offensive principles explained and demonstrated by Coach Weber in this video can be easily merged into your own fast-break or secondary break systems, as well as your standard half-court offense.

This video is a deep-dive immersion into high-octane style of up-tempo basketball and Coach Weber outlines creative ways for making The Phoenix Offense ‘7-Seconds or Less’ a stress-delivering headache for any type of opposing defense!

This is a must-watch offensive coaching video for basketball coaches at all levels of play!

Awesome 3 Video/DVD set. This is a must have for a coach who wants to push the tempo, not afraid to try something new, and allows their players to have some level of freedom to play.

This offense will teach players how to play the game of basketball but if you need a few plays to get you started and develop your creativity, this video series offers a ton of set plays that you could add to your playbook.

What I liked about this offense is that it teaches players to attack the basket to keep the defense on their heels at all times. It is a free-flowing offense. It teaches spacing and movement. As a bonus, if you are a small team that lacks height and you have players that can play multiple positions, this is a really good offense to run,

Like any offense, you need players that can shoot, dribble the ball, catch the ball, and play unselfishly, which is where the drills in this video come into play. If players put in the work over the summer to develop their shooting, you will see results.

5-Star rating for me. One of my favorite Championship Productions products and I have over 100 plus Championship Production videos and books.
