To dominate, the way Kansas has over the last decade, you must constantly find ways to stay ahead of the competition. Bill Self has figured out how to adapt with the changing trends in basketball to create an offensive system that spreads the floor with constant movement to attack the defense.

Through Coach Self's Fist and Four Game offenses, you will learn how to simultaneously play through the post and open up the court for your guards to attack. This offense gives your players the freedom to make plays, avoids having the ball stick and players standing around, and barrages your opponents with multiple pick & rolls in a single possession!

Coach Self uses a whiteboard and has his players demonstrate how to execute both of his offensive strategies. The key distinction is whether you want to play with two posts in the Fist offense or spread the floor around a single post player in the Four Game.

Fist

You'll learn how to initiate this offense through post feeds. This gives you the opportunity to run any set play you desire before flowing into Fist. Coach Self shows a consistent strategy for spacing the floor off of post feeds no matter where your players are in the possession.

The Kansas coaching staff places a major emphasis on the technique of the low post player sealing their defender with duck-ins. If defenders take away the initial post feed, you'll also see how to make them pay with your opposite big flashing for a high-low opportunity. Self explains how you can initiate pick & rolls on the two-side or single side for different looks.

Throughout the practice, Kansas players break down specific actions and then build up to live play to help you understand the actions within the ball screen continuity.

Four Game

This style of attack was developed for smaller teams that want to spread the floor and collapse the defense with constant drive and kicks. Four Game utilizes a series of dribble hand-offs, downhill drives, and ball screens to penetrate the paint. Learn how to space the floor when the ball goes into the post with an extra perimeter player. You'll see how the defense is flattened with ball reversals and corner ball screens. Additionally, on-court demonstration gives you a chance to see how the basic movements within this offense can continue from side to side as the ball is reversed.

Set Plays

Coach Self draws up two complementary set plays for this offense. The "Misdirection" play adds a lot of decoy actions to confuse the defense while you play out of multiple options with the pinch post. The "L Down" play sets defenses up to free up your big rolling off pick & rolls. Self also shows a tweak that you can make to this play for an open 3-point look when you need it.

This video gives you a detailed look at the two variations of ball screen offense that Bill Self uses at the University of Kansas to dominate opponents!

Excellent DVD. I own many 4 out 1 in motion offense DVD's from championship productions. If you have 1 dominant post player and even better 2 players that can play into the post then this type of offense is very good to run as it gives good passing angles for your bigs to operate and also good scoring opportunities for your guards in the perimeter.

This is a really good look into Bill Self's 4 out and 3 out motion offenses. He goes over both pretty extensively on the white board, and then after he diagrams the offense you get to see how Kansas runs their offenses on the court. Self provides a lot of great teaching point throughout the DVD, especially in regards to post offense.

Both the 4 and 3 out are very ball screen heavy, so if you're looking for motion offense incorporating a lot of ball screens, this is the DVD. The 3 out motion offense features a ton of high/low which you should be expected coming from Self.

Overall it is a great DVD with a lot of content- Self does a lot of coaching on the court in this video and it's easy to relate to since this appeared to be filmed early in the season.
