After 17 years as a head coach, Roy Williams unveils the secrets to the North Carolina Secondary Break! It all started with legendary coach Dean Smith at North Carolina and was "passed down" to Coach Williams (former Tar Heel assistant) who then went on to guide the University of Kansas basketball program to consistent success for many years. Now, back at North Carolina, Coach Williams and the secondary break have run their way to the 2005 National Title! Williams begins by discussing the advantages and philosophy of his primary and secondary breaks. He teaches you how to set up the break after a made or missed basket, how each player gets down court, each player's position on the court, and when to use the break. Williams presents a series of automatic and set plays off the secondary break that can be used to take advantage of your opponent in transition. This secondary break helped the Tar Heels lead the nation in 2005 in scoring at a rate of 88 points a game while shooting 49.9% from the field.

62 minutes. 2005.

Pretty good DVD, especially if you have 2 good post players. If you want more stuff geared towards your guards out of the same style break, check out Larry Brown: Mastery of the Secondary Break and Pick and Roll Offense. These 2 compliment each other really well as they are both from the Dean Smith coaching tree.

This is a great DVD for those who love the transition game. Coach Roy Williams breaks down his philosphy on getting out in transition and putting pressure on the defense. He breaks down the different options and sets you can run out the secondary break offense. This offense is not only good those who coach a transition game, but also for those who like a structure offense.

Coach Williams goes through Carolina secondary break building it from scratch 5on0.
He shows the "regular" secondary break first and many different options from then on. He clearly explains the "why" and the "how" to use the different options.
Overall, it's a good DVD and a 4-star product for me. A few drills on how to build the offense would have made it a 5-star.

If you are looking for a secondary break, this is a good DVD. He goes through a number of calls and reads that his players go through. It is shown on court with players without a defense and then with a defense. He explains the plays well and does not go too fast.
