Coaches are always looking to create more efficient practice systems.  Coach Rashon Burno shows you how you can quickly establish that through a daily ball-handling warmup routine that will develop the offensive skill needed to play in a modern offensive system.  This all-inclusive warmup will help you develop your players skill sets to maximize the potential of any group.

After the warmup routine, Coach Burno introduces you to several ball screen concepts that can be incorporated into any offensive attack.  He not only demonstrates the concepts, but he talks about the application of the concept as it relates to game play.  Your players will not only understand what to do, they will also understand why you are doing it.

Warmup

Coach Burno begins this video by demonstrating his daily 6-minute ball handling routine.  This routine helps develop a well-rounded skill set for players regardless of position.  This will prepare your team physically as well as mentally to begin to incorporate ball screen concepts into your system.

Ball Screen Concepts

After the warmup, Coach Burno transitions into a series of ball screen concepts that his players drill on a daily basis.  The repetition and attention to detail help players understand the “why” within the ball screen action.  This understanding will help players attack any defensive concept you will encounter when incorporating ball screens into your offense.

Reject the Screen

Coach Burno begins by explaining why the rejection of the screen can be so effective.  By forcing defenses into scramble rotations, you create advantages for your players to take advantage.  Simple rules for your posts allow you to create spacing on the floor that will stretch any defense.  The incorporation of the “pocket pass” on the rejection will allow your players to understand the 2 on 1 advantage created by the rejection.

Accept the Screen

Coach Burno then takes you into the inner workings of how to read the ball screen when you accept the screen.  By intentionally teaching your guards to see and listen for the coverage of the defense, you will create dynamic players that can attack the defense regardless of your opponent’s approach to defending the screen.  This will also promote high basketball IQ and team concepts as all 5 offensive players will understand their role in attacking different ball screen coverages.

Ball Screen Concepts

After the breakdown drills, Coach Burno takes you into some of his most dynamic ball screen concepts. The “52 Series” shows you how to stretch the defense utilizing the middle ball screen. The “54 series” is a slight adjustment in the concept to take advantage of a stretch 4 that has a matchup you can exploit.

“It is clear while watching this video why Coach Burno has been so successful in developing players.  This video is a must-watch for anyone that runs ball screen concepts.!” - Five-Star Review

I really enjoyed this video. For me, it was the overall setup of the video. I felt like I was actually at one of the practice sessions. Coach Bruno starts off the video with a ball handling series where the team goes through several one and two ball dribbling, stationary and on the move.

The next phase of the video is where coach goes into the ball screen concepts and build-up; 2v0; Reject the screen for a layup and then you hit the roller with a pocket pass. After a few of these, coach then goes into the coverage phase of possible reads. If the defense Hedges, Coach Bruno goes over a few reads that could develop for the offensive player. Last of this concept phase is the "Ghost Screen" action. This was a short segment but once you see it, you get the idea.

Coach continues with the offensive build up going from the 2v0 setting into a 3v0. You get pass and screen (On-ball) drills, all the while going over possible defensive actions; Over, Under, Hedge, & Ice.

The last parts of the video, coach goes over a few plays: "52 Series" or the "54 Series". A nice False action play and a quick Side Out Play.

All in all, this was a fantastic video and it was a joy to watch. Coach Bruno was very detailed in the presentation. 5-Star rating for me.

Thank you, as always Championship Productions for these awesome videos from some great coaches.
