St. John’s Head Coach Joe Tartamella opens his doors to a packed, information-filled practice! You will appreciate how Tartamella emphasizes playing fast, up-tempo basketball with Pace and Space in this practice as he does in every practice session.

Coach Tartamella begins practices with his 6+6 Shooting Warm-Up drill; this drill is used every day instead of the traditional team stretch. This drill is focused on getting multiple reps daily and also focuses on getting reps on shots that are in the offense they run.

Tartamella also runs his team through numerous advantage and disadvantage drills that are focused on playing with pace and getting back on defense.

Coach Tartamella also provides many offensive sets that demonstrate how to play with proper spacing, while playing an up-tempo style of basketball.

Tartamella also shares his 'GREEN' BLOB series that has the same formation every time the ball is inbounded; thus, it's very hard for the defense to pre-determine what the offensive action will be.

Coach Tartamella's practices are very detailed and highly organized and move at a very fast pace.
