This is a 5-star DVD!!
This is a great coaching session. For over 2 plus hours, coach Waters delivers an action pack of drills, skill development ideas, coaching tips, points of emphasis for your team, offensive and defensive drills, an wealth of information.
Some of the drills, as coaches, we have all seen and done before. But what I like about this presentation by coach Waters, we are getting drills with a twist. Coach and his staff expands our imagination. For example, in one drill coach has the players doing ball handling with the use of agility ladders. Again, thinking outside the box.
Coach explains his offensive system in a 5v0 setting and then gives you break down drills in case you want to use this offensive system. The defensive and rebounding side, coach and his staff offers some really great drills and drills with a twist. One defensive drill, which can also have an offensive element to it, is the close-out drills. Coach has the shooter shooting for 30 seconds against constant defensive pressure. For the defensive component, the defender is working on the usual high hand and chopping your feet close out. But they are also working on jumping straight up and not into the defender and boxing out. It is a great drill to watch and add to your coaching book.
Again, for 2 plus hours, you will find drills that you have seen before and some that you have never seen before. But you will not be disappointed. There is a wealth of information here. Plus, there is a bonus!! With this DVD you get a PDF with the coaches philosophy for the team that covers offense and defense. This PDF also comes with a practice plan.
My only suggestion, when teams are showing skill development drills for post and perimeter players, can you guys come up with a way to show both groups at the same time? Maybe have a small screen in the lower right corner showing a group and their drill work along with transition to the next drill. And have the large screen showing the other group doing their drill work and transition. And then switch them up. Because if this DVD, the post players were working on their drills but I could never see the transition from one drill to the next. Next with the perimeter players. I would watch them and before they would transition to the next drill, the camera would jump to the post players right in the middle of their next drill. I like to see the transition from one drill to the next. But overall this was an outstanding DVD and a must have for a coaching library.
5-stars!!!
