Develop a dominating team defense with the valuable drills and skills taught in this live, on-court practice from one of America's premier programs, the Kansas Jayhawks. In this second-week practice session, Bill Self gets his Kansas team focused on defensive concepts. Coach Self takes viewers through the Kansas man-to-man defense as he builds from the half-court to the full court with eight newcomers to his program. You'll learn the fundamental defensive principles that form the basis of the Kansas program.

Coach Self uses 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5 to instill a hard working, man-to-man philosophy. Using a shell drill, he teaches players how close out to the ball from the help side position and one pass away. He discusses the importance of communication as players move from pressuring the basketball to the help side defense and back again.

Next, Coach Self focuses on specific aspects of the half-court game, such as defending dribble hand-offs. Big-to-big switches is a simple technique he uses to address this offensive threat. He also teaches players how to defend this action against a big and little run hand-off. Guarding the "pinch post" action is another aspect covered in this section of the presentation.

Coach Self continues with a detailed segment on how Kansas defends the post-on-post screen and down screen. He also shares several techniques used by his teams to defend on ball screens, including flat hedge, trap and hard hedge. A critical element of this part of practice is challenging players to get the moves right.

After covering the Kansas half-court defensive philosophy, Coach Self puts everything together in a 5v5 full court session. He pulls together his full-court defense as he demonstrates his transition defense and philosophy. Many of the concepts taught earlier in the presentation are reviewed, re-taught and stressed as the game goes live.

Coach Self's passion for defense and attention to detail are evident throughout the presentation. He breaks things down clearly and then works his players until they get it right.

Learn the simple secret to playing dominating man-to-man defense with this incredible on-court presentation. With Bill Self's Jayhawk Defense, your teams will be prepared to pick apart your opponent's play and force tough outside shots.

It's a good video. I wish there was a little more detail in how they defend certain things (maybe using a whiteboard or classroom setting). Other than that it's pretty good.
