Transition Offense Sets

Coach Otzelberger focuses on teaching the basic concepts of the transition offense, using the side ball screen as each play progresses from that starting point. He provides simple ways to vary the action using a:

• Kick Ahead
• Ball Reversal
• Drag Screen
• Gap Drive
• Dribble Hand-Off

Spacing is emphasized throughout the video, reinforcing spacing concepts to make the flow into your regular offense seamless and highly effective. Coach Otzelberger shows how poor spacing will take away options within your offense.

You will see many different sets and looks in transition. When your primary transition is not available, you can go into your secondary transition. Transition sets covered by Coach Otzelberger include:

• Swing Option - Teaches attack the gap using pick & roll two man game. Otzelberger adds Spur, Crack, and Step variations.
• Side Action - Uses the dribble hand-off action initiated by the point guard. Otzelberger includes three variations from the initial set.
• Hit Action - Throw ahead set over half court. Based off of this action, you can go right into Step, Crack or Spur action.
• Punch Action - Designed to get the ball into the post.
• Drag Ball Screen - Screen and roll with four variations.
