Coach Seth Greenberg gives a detailed account of the half-court 1-3-1 trap, a great counter to other zone defenses played today. Areas covered include the responsibilities for each position, trap coverage and rotations, how to defend skip passes and dribble penetration, as well as rebounding assignments. Coach Greenberg also discusses how to use this defense to contain a dominant player. This is an excellent defense to disrupt opponents, change the pace of the game, and to create scoring opportunities.

CP would make some $$ if they produced a DVD that discussed running the 1-3-1 against something besides the 2-1-2 set.

This is a good DVD of 1-3-1 basics. Note there is NO player demo in this dvd -- it's all blackboard + coach walkthrough with other coaches.

This is also misleading -- THIS IS NOT a video on the 1-3-1 TRAP. It's a base 1-3-1 zone -- in fact he never discusses trapping at all.

If you want to run the 1-3-1 get the Steve Klaas video. It's much better with details and variations but this is still worth watching

I thought the video had a lot of great information but it was long. I had to watch it in a few sitting because it was not keeping my attention.

Excellent discussion of the 1-3-1 trap and how to play it in a more aggressive manner than merely sitting back in a 1-3-1 zone. The concepts of pushing the ball out and ensuring that defenders are between the passer and receiver are clear. The video also does a very good job of identifying and explaining the role that each player must assume relative to where the ball is.

Excellent! Great use of blackboard diagrams and on court demonstration to describe in detail how to effectively run the 1-3-1 trapping defense.
I would rate it a 5.
