Geno Auriemma: The Simplified Zone Offense

Very helpful tips for what to do against a zone offense. Some good quick hitters, inbounds plays as well.

This is a great video. The progression of how to teach it is really interesting. He starts with two players then progresses to 3 eventually getting to all 5. The title is correct it is a simple zone offense. It was nice to see it ran against a defense. If you are looking for a zone offense that isn't too complicated and is easy to teach, this is for you.

Simple but so effective ! Geno is priceless. Lots of little things that I can incorporate into my current zone offense. Thank you!

I found this video to be helpful. You are given very simple ways in which you can create offense against a zone. There are some plays that seem so elementary, but we tried them last season in a game, and wow, it worked. For example, a play he calls "Russia". It is no cutting, just ball movement between 4 guys up high, and believe it or not, it will get you an open shot every time, and our guys loved it. A lot of the things coach explains about zone offense I found very helpful as well. If you are looking for set plays to run against a zone defense, this is not it. If you are looking for the "how to teach players to play against zone defenses", this is the video for you!

Loved the DVD! Simplified? Yes, but he explains why. I got a lot out of this DVD.

Had ordered this DVD to get more ideas about how to handle a zone defense. The DVD didn't disappoint - there is lots of great information in here that we will be looking to implement into our program for the future!

I'd like to change my review after seeing these concepts work exceptionally well at a high level. Anyone that thinks these concepts are too simple to work against high level defense is just wrong, everything works and if the defense cheats to take it away then your left with other areas wide open that are incredibly easy to take advantage of. Grab this one.

Geno carves up the zone defense, makes it look so easy to get a good shot for the offense. He shows motion offense concepts starting from the ground up with two perimeter players 2-0, adds a third perimeter player 3-0 and then the posts 5-0. This video will make you stop using zone defense because it's so difficult to cover the possibilities! For those wanting a structured offense, he states you can give the manuevers a name and run them as set plays looking for a specific shot. However, he'd rather let the players move the ball around on their own and take what the defense leaves available. The BOB plays were simple and effective too.

Classic Geno!! Very, very good dvd. Great b/c it is so simple, and it is very effective. Coach Auriemma is one of my favorites!!

This is another good Coach Auriemma video, the concepts are simple but they work. He introduces passing, cutting and dribbling concepts against zone and then rattles off a good number of plays and actions he uses, not a complete system but its all good information.

Good DVD. Not Great. But, very good in teaching zone offense principles and concepts.

Not what I would call a complete offense but the concepts that he uses can fit into most offenses and they are really helpful. Like when to pass into the post or when to pass to top. Some good things in the video but not a great video if you are looking for a complete zone offense.

Simplified is correct,perhaps to simplified.He makes some good points,but I was disapointed in the overall content of the materal and the way it was presented.Ther are better dvd,s on zones the this one.
