Thought this review would go more in depth of what their off season, pre-season plans were like. I thought that section was an afterthought. Felt like a lot of the material is not relevant for local public schools. Mater Dei has great infrastructure but some of the things that were mentioned that he does would not be feasible at public schools.

Coach McKnight seems like an amazing individual. However, for a small town coach in the Midwest, a lot of what is covered does not apply to my community or situation. I was hoping for more specifics. There is a lot of common knowledge advice in this DVD. For $40 I was hoping for more of the inside scoop or "a-ha" moments... Disappointed.

I am giving this DVD a 5-star rating!! First off, I love the lecture-style presentation. I attend coaching clinics every year, and this style is my favorite.

Coach McKnight has been in the coaching business for a number of years. He talks about how his coaching style has changed over the years and how the role of the coach has changed over the years. Dealing with AAU coaches (positive), dealing with parents (positive), and the school ADs (positive).

Coach covered hiring assistant coaches and how to let those assistant coaches have ownership of the program by letting them have input in certain calls or plays or running practice sessions. The head coach has final say on everything but letting the assistant coach helps to develop ownership and allows for different voices and leaderships to develop.

I also liked how coach McKnight covered off-season, as well as pre-season, basketball, sessions. Covered was Spring open gym sessions, summer league stuff, and the first month of school and what they do at Mater Dei (CA) during that first few months of school and open gym sessions.

This is a 5-star rating based on coaching content, video quality, and style. Great work and this is an excellent resource for coaches. It offers a blueprint on how to develop a championship caliber program.
