Coach Lennie Acuff is widely regarded within coaching circles as a basketball genius that consistently innovates new offensive trends in college basketball. In this video, you will learn how Acuff has embraced modern trends in the game to space the floor through a conceptual offense. Every possession is completely unique based on how your players read and react to the defense. This style of play will be impossible to scout for your opponents!

5-Out Secondary Break

Coach Acuff believes that playing up-tempo will give you an advantage in league play when teams are well-prepared for the tactics you run. His teams at Lipscomb accomplish this through a 5-out transition offense that generates high-efficiency shots.

Through every action, Acuff demonstrates how you can link offensive concepts together to continue attacking through every second of the possession. You will learn how Lipscomb has adjusted their ball screens in transition with the "Wedge" concept. This action will get your ball handler driving downhill in the early seconds of the possession. You will also see how the Wedge can flow into post play options in the "Porch" that incorporate cuts and dribble hand-offs.

Off-ball screening is also incorporated into the offense through the "Pro" concept. A reversal pass can trigger a screen away that flows into flat ball screens or the "Georgia" action that presents a unique twist to your typical 2-man game. Coach Acuff also breaks down how to "burn the stunt" with perimeter cuts that will put pressure on the defense and create space for screeners that can stretch the floor.

Red Offense

You will learn how to create organization amongst your players when motion concepts break down during the course of a possession. This alignment plays off Princeton concepts to create several effective scoring options based on how players direct their initial pass. Easy layups and wide-open shots can be found off back screens and flare screens in Red. Additional actions like "Slice" can spread the floor into wide open driving lanes. Other concepts such as "Rub" and "Jungle" flow into 3-man actions that will challenge the defense to guard pin screens, backdoors, and dribble hand-offs. All of these options are at your players' disposal without ever needing to be called from the bench!

Quick Hitters

Three different plays are also included in Coach Acuff's presentation. He likes to use common alignments that can produce multiple scoring options. Two simple plays can be run in your half-court offense out of the same 1-4 low alignment. This principle is also demonstrated with a baseline inbound play that has six different scoring options with slight adjustments being made to counter the defense throughout the game.
