Championships are said to be won on the defensive end, but if your team isn't able to knock down open jump shots, you'll have a hard time reaching your ultimate goal. This video packed with shooting drills from the best coaches and programs in the country gives you all the tools necessary to address this issue.

Warm-Up Drills

To become a better shooter, an appropriate warm-up is a must. Fred Hoiberg introduces the warm-up he did as a player starting from his days playing youth basketball to the end of his career in the NBA. Coach Hoiberg starts close to the basket and moves out as he starts to increase his range while maintaining his shooting form.

Phil Martelli shows a warm-up drill that is designed to work on shooting from the side. This drill can be done in a practice format with four players on a basket shooting two basketballs. The drill moves to the "game spot," an area where players shoot from most often.

One of the best shooters ever, Rick Barry, demonstrates fundamentals for the jump shot. An all-time great shooter, Barry discusses how to shoot the basketball using the right form and mechanics, especially the concept of shooting the basketball "up to the basket."

Terry Layton presents a shooting drill that he learned from the Brazilian national team. This drill incorporates cutting, passing, catching, and outside shooting.

John Tauer covers three keys to shooting: the ball going straight, the ball going up, and the ball going the correct distance.

Transition Shooting

Chris Collins presents a transition shooting drill that is designed to work on getting players to shoot on the move. The drill emphasizes footwork and finishing lay-ups against contact. The drill then progresses to making a pull-up jump shot.

Steve Alford teaches how to catch and shoot on the move. Using tight cuts, pop cuts, and flare cuts off the catch, Coach Alford's drill places an emphasis on executing game shots at game speed while developing footwork.

Big Man Shooting

Kevin Eastman demonstrates the McHale Drill. This chair drill teaches the mid-range jump shot and scoring the basketball off of a rebound.

Big men must have that one "go-to" move that makes them effective scorers in the low post. Tom Izzo demonstrates the technique to shoot the jump hook. The drill evolves to catching the ball at the elbow, utilizing the rip-thru move, and attacking the basket.

Shooting Drills

Sean Miller presents a wing drill that can be used to develop shooting from behind the 3-point line. The Celtic Drill can be done with one or two players in 5 minutes. From seven spots, a shooter must make two shots in a row from one spot before moving on to the next one.

Team Shooting

Jay Wright presents a three-player shooting drill that involves a passer, shooter, and rebounder in the same drill. Coach Wright's drill is designed to create good habits for all three players by executing a v-cut, catching the basketball, and shooting in rhythm. Executing pivots with the inside foot is emphasized.

The Five Man Shooting drill from Bill Self focuses on making 160 15-foot jump shots in 5 minutes with three shooters going on a basket at the same time.

With the growing popularity of drive-and-kick offenses that take advantage of collapsing defenses, Chris Collins demonstrates a series of drills to work on drive-and-kick actions that lead into open 3-point shots. Using the principles of baseline and middle drives, Coach Collins shows how to spot up for shots at the point and in the corners for open 3-point jumpers.

Sherri Coale shares one of her favorite shooting drills, Two-Ball Shooting, to develop her team's motion offense. Utilizing two passers, the drill has a screener and a first cutter with the two working together to execute screening action found in motion offense.

A drill designed to move the ball quickly with the pass to get an open jump shot in the corner is presented by John Calipari. His drill makes players execute at game speed and shoot game shots.

This video provides a smorgasbord of drills to improve shooting fundamentals at any level of basketball. The perfect reference for developing a great shooting team!

Many top coaches feel assists are one of the most important stats related to winning. Assists reflect a team's ability to take advantage of multiple threats and to place players in a position to score. Getting the ball to the right player at the right time is a vital key to victory, especially in a close game.

This video takes you inside the practice sessions of top coaches and trainers to show you how to improve your team's passing abilities. With an amazing diversity of drills that work on catching, bounce passing, outlet passing and more, this video will give you a wide variety of drills to choose from to increase your team's offensive efficiency.

Warm-Up Drills

Kevin Boyle begins with a pair of warm-up drills designed to work on passing and movement. The first works with v-cuts and perimeter player exchanges. The second utilizes shots fakes, middle drives, baseline drives, and drift passes to the corner.

To develop the fast break, Tom Izzo uses a three-player drill, starting with a rebound and outlet pass by a post player, to focus on finding transition jumpers and mid-line hunters while advancing the ball as much as possible on each pass.

In working with post players, Gregg Marshall profiles a drill designed to simulate rebounding and making the outlet pass. Coach Marshall emphasizes blocking out a would-be rebounder, rebounding the ball at its apex with two hands, and making the outlet pass to the correct side of the floor.

Bob Hurley introduces an outlet passing drill used at the start of his team's practices. Working in pairs and using both ends of the court, one player will throw the ball off the backboard and rebound the ball with two hands before making the outlet pass. The player receiving the outlet pass will dribble down the court and get to the middle of the floor before making a jump stop inside the free throw circle and passing to the rebounder who runs wide and to the outside.

In a practice format, Geno Auriemma utilizes the unique four-player weave. With the objective of going down and back once in 10 seconds, the four players execute a weave-type action and try to finish on both ends with lay-ups. This challenging drill requires players to catch and pass cleanly and finish lay-ups to make it in time.

John Calipari introduces a drill designed to develop the two-man fast break and build up speed during the warm-up. In his drill, two players pass back and forth and finish with a lay-up.

Drill Passing

Northwestern's Chris Collins introduces Peripheral Passing, a drill designed to work on rapid-fire passing and communication. Six players get into a semi-circle along the 3-point line and face in to a seventh player. The target for the passes is always the seventh player standing underneath the basket or the seventh player passing out to one of the players on the perimeter.

In developing the backdoor cut out of the 1-4 high set, Bill Self has his team work on passes into the high post and the wing cutting backdoor focusing on the separation necessary to get the pass from the big man.

For the Princeton Offense, Chris Mooney utilizes the Star Passing Drill. With an emphasis of passing and catching the basketball with two hands, this drill is designed to get players to make accurate passes while on the move.

Team Passing

To prepare his teams to face a zone defense, Bryce Drew introduces Zone Passing. To make the drill more competitive, Coach Drew puts 35 seconds on the clock and the offense tries to make as many passes as possible out of their zone offense in that time.

In preparation for full-court pressure, Jay Wright shows a drill designed to work on making sound passes, executing V-cuts, and making proper pivots. Wright also demonstrates a drill designed to work on feeding the post.

Ball handling is the first building block of creating an offense that is able to minimize turnovers and maximize the value of each possession. This video combines some of the best lessons and drills from some of Championship Production's best-selling coaching videos. It's a virtual encyclopedia of ball handling drills for every situation; whether it's breaking full court pressure, setting up defenders, or finishing at the rim. With over two hours of solid instruction - no filler here - each segment gets right to the point and shows players and coaches demonstrating each drill.

Warm-Up Drills

Seth Greenberg introduces a warm-up drill that is designed to improve dribbling skills with both hands. This 4-minute daily drill at the start of practice works on being able to execute a variety of dribbling actions that translate into game situations with either hand.

Another two-ball warm-up drill presented by Lyndsey Fennelly works on developing the ability to face up when dribbling by working on dribbling two basketballs and going between the legs.

Kermit Davis uses a heavy basketball for his Heavy Ball Pound. This drill requires the player to dribble a heavy basketball and execute basic dribble moves to develop hand-eye coordination and strength.

To improve dribbling in an open court situation, Tom Izzo demonstrates his Open Court drill. This full-court drill sets up situations where a player must be able to dribble forward and backward before exploding to the other end of the court and finishing with a lay-up.

Individual Skill Work

Steve Alford introduces a basic drill that works on figure-eight dribbling and weaving with the dribble. The Ball Cone Drill can be used at different skill levels and with a variety of dribble moves.

For point guards, Duke's Slide and Jab Drill helps create a technique for creating space with the dribble and with footwork to shake a tight defender. Likewise, Slide and Step Back works on creating space by simulating an attack before using a step-back dribble to shake off a defender, create space, and find an available passing lane.

Team Skill Work

Tom Crean presents a drill that incorporates shooting along with change of direction and executing dribble moves. One aspect of the drill works at changing direction and making a middle drive to the basket. The other aspect works on pulling up for a mid-range jump shot off of the bounce.

Phil Martelli begins with stationary dribbling at the start of his drill before incorporating changing hands with the crossover, yo-yo dribbling, and the inside-out dribble. This drill is used at the start of his practices and is designed to improve ball handling skills for all of his players.

Coach Martelli follows up with a drill requiring players to become creative with the way in which they finish at the rim. Working with crossovers in the open floor, players finish with creative lay-ups and floaters to simulate ways to finish at the rim while attacking the basket off of the bounce in a fast break situation.

To develop ball quickness and footwork, John Calipari demonstrates a drill in which change of direction dribbling is utilized. While players work on lateral movement down the floor, they also work on dribbling between the legs and behind the back.

This video provides you with the necessary drills and lessons to build your players' ball handling skills. While ball handling is the focus, there are some great combo drills as well that let athletes work on shooting and conditioning. The coaches' insight into training and the game are second to none. Don't miss your chance to build a solid ball handling foundation for your team's offense!
