From the Ground Up: Building an Explosive Swing

Tabbed by Baseball America as one of the nation's top assistant coaches, Bill Mosiello has over 25 years of coaching experience, including seven years of managing teams in the minor leagues. Most recently he lead the AA Arkansas Travelers in the Angels organization where he tutored Mike Trout for nearly two seasons. He began his career at Cerritos College, winning two California state junior college championships in his first four years as head coach. Mosiello has received Manager of the Year honors twice in the Alaska Summer League (1990, 1991) and once in the Cape Cod Baseball League (1998).

Hitting Program

See live demonstrations of drills for improving rhythm, barrel awareness, strength, momentum, separation, focus, and competitive desire to succeed offensively. Using this program, you'll learn how to:

• Increase bat speed - Using a series of one arm drills and weight jackets, your hitters will strengthen their hitting muscles without changing their swings. Many of these drills can be done individually or with a teammate.
• Create a more powerful swing - These drills help those "arm swing only" hitters create separation and momentum in their swing. Generating separation will allow players to hit the ball harder. Coach Mosiello also shares drills that show hitters to stay back on the ball and concentrate on each pitch.
• Use offset batting practice to teach directional hitting - This drill brings it all together to help hitters find their "hit spots," make adjustments and identify the pitch they can drive.
