Creating and Organizing Better Practices for Your Team

Available Resources & Practice Enhancers

There are always limited resources, such as practice time, coaching personnel, equipment and the like. To kick off this video, Coach Pemberton suggests identifying and utilizing these resources at an early stage of practice organization so that your players will get the maximum amount of benefit that your program's constraints can afford.

Next up, Pemberton identifies a variety of "practice enhancers" to incorporate into your planning. These enhancers improve the focus and energy of practices and can counter difficulties, such as bad weather days and players having off days. With the help of Coach Pemberton, you'll learn to recognize several practice destroyers, such as poor communication and long lines. These can degrade or destroy your practices and prevent optimal progression in your athletes.

Incorporating Values & Planning

An important concept to address is how your team values and identity can be developed during practices. As Pemberton explains, these values can be incorporated into drills so that skills, values and identity are developed during every minute you're on the field or in the batting cage.
