The #1 ranked University of Florida softball program won the Gainesville regional to advance to the Super Regionals. Coach Tim Walton guided the Gators to regional victories over Florida A & M (12-0), Texas A & M (7-1), and Lehigh (9-0) in the finals. The Gators own a 58-3 overall record and broke the SEC conference single-season home run record by hitting their 80th against Lehigh.
The Gators will take on California for the second consecutive year in the Super Regionals. California beat Oklahoma State 2-1 in the Tallahassee Regional to advance.
Kelly Amonte Hiller led the Northwestern Wildcats past Princeton in the quarterfinal round of 2009 Women’s Lacrosse National Championship. The #1 Wildcats outscored #7 Princeton 16-9 at Lakeside Field in Evanston, IL to advance to the NCAA semifinals in Towson, MD. The Wildcats will face #4 Penn for a Friday night showdown at Johnny Unitas Stadium. Penn advanced to the semifinals by defeating Duke 10-9 in overtime.

Head Coach John Tanner and No. 2 Stanford bounced back Sunday evening at the National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship, downing No. 4 Hawai’i 14-11 to claim a third-place national finish. With the result, Stanford ends the 2009 season with a record of 26-4. The third-place finish continues the Cardinal’s stretch of top-three placements at all nine National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championships.
Stanford was eliminated from the winner’s bracket on Saturday as the eventual champion, UCLA Bruins, scored the deciding goal as time expired to claim a 12-11 victory in the semifinals of the National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship. The tournament was held at the University of Maryland’s Eppley Recreational Center in College Park, MD.
Tim Walton, Head Softball Coach at the University of Florida, has guided the Gators to a 55-3 regular season record and the #1 overall seed in the 2009 NCAA Division I Softball Championship. Regional play will begin the weekend of May 15-17 and followed by Super Regionals on May 21-24. The eight Super Regional winners will advance to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City on May 28 – June 3. Good luck to all programs, including:
