The 2008 Summer Olympic Games will be held in Beijing, China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. Approximately 10,500 athletes from 205 nations are expected to compete in 302 events in 28 sports, only one event more than what was held in 2004. The opening ceremony will kickoff the Olympics in Beijing National Stadium at 8:00pm CST on August 8 and competition will begin on August 9.

John Dunning is the Head Volleyball Coach at Stanford University, one of the premier collegiate volleyball programs in the United States. Dunning has collected four NCAA titles and a career record of 645-135. He was 437-102 in 16 years at Pacific and enters his eighth season at Stanford with a record of 208-33. He was named AVCA Coach of the Year in 2001 and also selected as the Pac-10 Coach of the Year in 2001 & 2007. Prior to beginning his career at the collegiate level, Dunning made a name for himself as one of the country’s top prep and junior club coaches. The founder of the Bay Club, a USAV Junior Club, he also spent nine successful years as the head coach at Sunnyvale’s Fremont High School. He was selected at the California Coaches Association Prep Coach of the Year in 1980 and was a finalist for National High School Coach of the Year in 1984.

After winning the 2008 NCAA Men’s Track & Field Championship, the Florida State Seminoles are preparing for the 2008 Olympics. Seven current and former Seminoles have qualified for the Olympics:
* Dorian Scott will represent Jamaica in the Shot Put. Scott is featured in Harlis Meaders‘ DVD - Becoming a Champion Shot Putter - Beyond the Basics!
* Rafeeq Curry will represent the USA in the Triple Jump. Curry is featured in Dennis Nobles‘ DVD - Becoming a Champion Triple Jumper - Beyond the Basics!
* Brian Dzingai will represent Zimbabwe in the 200m. Dzingai is featured in Ken Harnden’s DVD - Becoming a Champion Sprinter - Beyond the Basics!

Schellas Hyndman, the former men’s soccer coach at Southern Methodist University, was named the head coach of FC Dallas of Major League Soccer. Hyndman guided his teams to 30 NCAA playoff appearances, 11 quarterfinals, three NCAA Division I College Cups, and owns an overall college record of 466-122-49. Hyndman was also a 7X NSCAA / Adidas Regional “Coach of the Year!”

Dick Bennett spent most of his coaching career in the state of Wisconsin. He was the head coach at UW-Stevens Point, UW-Green Bay, UW-Madison, and ended his career at Washington State University. In five seasons at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, he guided the Badgers to four postseason tournaments including the NCAA Final Four in 2000!
Bob McKillop is the head coach at Davidson College where he’s guided the Wildcats to eight postseason tournaments. In 2008, Davidson went undefeated in conference play and advanced to the NCAA Elite 8 before losing to eventual champion Kansas. After the phenomenal season, McKillop was selected to head the 2008 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team that will compete in the 2008 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Formosa, Argentina. McKillop is a 7X SoCon Coach of the Year and was named the 2008 NABC Coach of the Year.
