Every up-and-coming basketball player wants to handle the rock. However, improving your dribbling abilities takes dedication and hours spent in the gym doing drills that push you to your limits, and not many people possess the passion to complete the work necessary to become an elite ball handler.

In this video, you'll get 30 ball handling drills from the Smart Basketball Training program that will not only increase your dribbling skills but also teach you the mental aspect of basketball that separates the good players from the great ones. SBT's lead trainer, Austin McBeth, will guide you through every drill, explain how to set each drill up, and give you exactly what you need to improve your game. If you're passionate about improving your ball handling, these drills are exactly what you need!

Stationary

McBeth starts by running through stationary drills that work on ball control and dribbling speed. You'll learn the pound series, escape dribble, wall touches, floor touches and more. According to McBeth, one of the keys to controlling a dribble is realizing that almost all of the time, the ball is lost on the catch as opposed to the pound. The harder you pound the ball, the more likely you are to maintain a tight dribble, catch the ball, and avoid turning it over.

On The Move

Once you've mastered the Smart Basketball Training stationary ball handling exercises, it's time to work on dribbling on the move. Some of the drills you'll get include the zig zag series, double move series, triple move series, retreat square up, and pull back dribble. Everyone wants to cross up their defender and blow by them for the highlight finish - this section is where you'll develop those skills!

With Contact and Objects

Whether you're in the gym by yourself or with a partner, McBeth has drills with contact and objects that will help you put the finishing touches on your best moves. Cones, pads, chairs and more are all included in these drills and will force you to get out of your comfort zone in order to become a better player.

With Austin McBeth and Smart Basketball Training's ball handling drills, you'll be able to elevate your dribbling abilities to a whole new level!

This is one of my favorite ball handling DVDs! I like how Austin goes into detail about how each drill/move will help in game situations. I'll definitely be showing this video to the guys I know who need to work on their handles.
