As coach of the 2002 NCAA championship team, 25 wins in the NCAA tournament, and an overall winning percentage of .641, Gary Williams has learned to master and implement a winning offense: The Flex. In this instructional basketball DVD, Coach Williams uses on-court demonstration to coach and teach a winning Flex Offense. With emphasis on the half-court offense, Williams goes through a step-by-step process, guidelines, and multiple principles and plays for successfully executing the Flex. He shows how to create and maintain proper spacing and positioning, utilize on and off the ball movement, and perfect perimeter and post-entry passing; this includes effective screens, basket cuts, post flashes, and attacking the overplay. He then goes through multiple Flex sets and special plays to break down the defense and create scoring opportunities against straight man-to-man defense, switches, and pressure defense, including late-game situations. In addition, Williams shares counters that can be used to combat various defenses. Use this video to master the Flex offense to help build a winning team and tradition.
72 minutes. 2004.
Pretty valuable DVD with a lot of good information. Details are thoroughly explained and Coach Williams provides many useful tips. I also enjoyed being able to see stuff in both a 5 vs 0 and 5 vs 5 setting. It is a different way to run the flex but it''s still solid.
Coach Williams made a goog story about an old play.
Simple and direct with the knowledge of years ofexperience.
I think this is a pretty darn good video presentation, the basics of the offense are gone over as well as counters and plays to take advantage of the way defense will play you. I don't run flex nor have I ever so that might play into my favorable rating, but I think Coach Williams explains and teaches this offense very well and provides enough to give you a good base offense to play with.
Good video; but this is not the Flex Offense that most are familar with- there are no down screens after the flex screen.
Between the Mark Few, Tubby Smith and this video on the flex offense, this is the best. He goes over the basics of the offense and shows ways to deal with the defense picking up on the predictability of this offense. I wish he would have talked about the issue of weak-side rebounding or shown a few more drills, but overall this is the best Flex video out there.
