Tex Winter has seen and done it all in the world of basketball! Winter doesn't stake claim as the Triangle Offense's "inventor," but takes tremendous pride in being the Triangle's greatest innovator. In 60 years with the offense, he developed and modified it to fit many different coaching challenges. The Triangle is assembled piece by piece in this landmark video.

The Triangle is introduced by Coach Winter's exploration of his seven principles of a sound offense. Tex states that offensive rebounding and defensive balance is a vital part of this offense. Penetration, spacing, ball & player movement, and utilizing individual talents are other highlighted principles. The "Learning the Offense" segment is a template for teaching the offense to young or new players. Tex shares his well-earned wisdom with his six "Good Coaching" concepts. An organized, well-spaced fast break precedes the half court Triangle action. Proper teaching of all five spots is required. "The Moment of Truth" occurs when the defense exerts pressure in the backcourt as they attempt to slow down the fast break. Winter uses on-court players to demonstrate the offense. A featured breakdown drill is the pinch drill, which incorporates shooting, pinch action and two-man game action. Winter dedicates a section of teaching to playing against pressure. Players are instructed specific tasks as they work as a team to get the ball up the floor against pressing teams. Terminology in the Triangle Offense is very important. Terminology and teaching points in this video include weak side guard fill, Blind Pig, Squeeze action, Change-up, fan pass, speed cut, lag pass, inside reverse pivot, front turn, baseline reverse pivot, baseline cuts, playing without the ball, 2-man game, screen and roll, dribble hand-off, two-pass post, Dribble entry, Two pass, Four pass, 1st, 2nd, 3rd cutters.

Tex Winter "teaches the Triangle Offense" better than anyone in the history of the game of basketball. This video will allow you to learn step-by-step the elements that make up this powerful and versatile offense. Your players can learn to make the same reads, cuts and shots as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kobe Bryant did in their Tex Winter-influenced NBA careers. Join the legions of coaches worldwide that win consistently with this one-of-a-kind basketball offense. No video can or ever will rival this complete examination of the famous Triangle Offense.

Great DVD Set for learning the Triangle Offense. I suggest you read up on some Triangle Offense articles or lessons to get the basics down of the alignment and the four options from the #2 pass. This way you will have a better understanding of what he talks about, what to look for, and how to teach it. Although he does go through it really well, for me I like to read up a little and be prepared. I love how he shows the basic alignment and the passing options from the #2 pass and shows how to get into it from transition. He'll go 5 on 0 to 5 on 5 and demonstrate in detail for you. He's a great teacher at it. If you look at the transition portion of the DVD, he actually sets up and uses a press break that I have been using for years and is effective to organizing the triangle offense in the front court. Although the players make many mistakes, it's a good way to learn from it. I learned so much from the 5 on 5 that I too was talking at the TV trying to correct the players on the floor. He states you're always in the offense and it makes perfect sense.

He shows the breakdown drills from mostly the pinch post and the corner pass. He shows all the options and makes it great for the players to read the defense and choose what to do and where to go.

There is a point in the DVD set that's confusing when one of the blue shirts was actually on offense with 4 gray shirts and once they get into the offense, it got confusing to see after a couple of passes which one was which. It's only for a short portion though as I think he said that one of the gray shirt players was not there the first day when going through the basic alignment so he had the other team's player switch with him.

Other than that mishap, I recommend this DVD set as a MUST HAVE in instituting the offense. You will learn enough of the Triangle Offense to institute it at the High School level and College level. I plan on doing so this year with my Varsity Girls team starting this summer!

If you have read Tex Winter's book ''The triple Post Offence'' published in 1962,then this 3 DVD set will be a great help in understanding how to run and implement the offense. Tex Winter breaks down how to run the offense from baseline to baseline and the 4 basic plays-if you can call them like that-of the Triangle offense..There aren't many breakdown drills but a great section of Tex Winter's teaching is dedicated in pressure release in full court press,3/4 and 1/2 court press. The only thing that annoyed me a little bit was the fact that the players weren't accustomed with the offense and coach Winter had to correct them again and again. The biggest asset of this DVD set though is the fact that you will get acquainted with the terminology and philosophy of the offense-which coach Winter thoroughly explains- but above all you will here the teachings of a very experienced and legendary hall of fame coach. For these reasons i rate it 5/5 stars.

This video is a treasure as Coach Winter is now limited by a stroke and could not make such an in depth video like this any more. A lot of people will say this video is elementary Triangle teachings, but that's how the Triple Post offense is. It's very simple and execution is predicated upon player knowledge and abilities.

This video is priceless and is a must have if you loved the 90's Bulls or the 00's Lakers teams.

If I were a beginner with the Triangle, this DVD would have had my head spinning. Tex does very little to actually teach the offense, nor does he give a great index of drills to practice with. Also, the players he is working with don't really seem to grasp the system, and he has to stop numerous times just to get through the basics, which the viewer never got to see him explain. He does, however, teach many finer teaching points in the offense, which can be very helpful to someone with a background using the system, and his start from the baseline is a helpful approach, especially because he does work in a small bit about going up against a press and not breaking the offense. For the most part, it's learning the consistent terminology and fundamentals that pull this DVD through. As another reviewer stated, a better source for learning the offense would be Tex's 1962 book, "The Triple-Post Offense". Other than that, I love listening to Tex talk about the game, and this DVD was a worthwhile purchase for me because it gave me some better insight into how to teach the small things.

Don't waste your money and time on this DVD set! I was REALLY looking forward to these DVDs, but was VERY DISAPPOINTED after viewing them. Believe me (or not), you will learn VERY LITTLE about the Triangle Offense from these DVDs. Tex is working with young men that are learning the Triangle Offense on the fly, and he really doesn't do a good job of teaching it to them, nor do they do a good job of learning it. Also, a lot of the video deals with fast breaking into the Triangle Offense after a made or missed free throw (which really wasn't what I was expecting). Furthermore, there are very few, if any, drills presented that are useful or practical. As pathetic as it may seem, arguably the best part of this video is the footage of the Lakers and Bulls with narration (not by Tex); but the quality of the video is poor and many times during the Bulls footage the timing of the narration is off. If you want to learn the Triangle Offense skip this video and buy Tex Winter's book: The Triple-Post Offense (Sideline Triangle); this is an EXCELLENT book and costs much less than the video. However, if you insist on purchasing the video, I can almost guarantee that you will have buyer's remorse. You have been warned.

Coach Winter is one of the best teachers of the game ever. I love Triple Post Offense and used it with my teams too.
Therefore, there is no surprise that I gave this tapes the highest rate (5 stars).

The lessons are on-the-court type, with the offense built 5vs0 full court. Every option is shown, with counters for pressing defenses too.

Not only the offense is explained in great detail, but specific drills are shown too.

A must-buy for anyone interested in this great offensive system.
