If I were a beginner with the Triangle, this DVD would have had my head spinning. Tex does very little to actually teach the offense, nor does he give a great index of drills to practice with. Also, the players he is working with don't really seem to grasp the system, and he has to stop numerous times just to get through the basics, which the viewer never got to see him explain. He does, however, teach many finer teaching points in the offense, which can be very helpful to someone with a background using the system, and his start from the baseline is a helpful approach, especially because he does work in a small bit about going up against a press and not breaking the offense. For the most part, it's learning the consistent terminology and fundamentals that pull this DVD through. As another reviewer stated, a better source for learning the offense would be Tex's 1962 book, "The Triple-Post Offense". Other than that, I love listening to Tex talk about the game, and this DVD was a worthwhile purchase for me because it gave me some better insight into how to teach the small things.

Don't waste your money and time on this DVD set! I was REALLY looking forward to these DVDs, but was VERY DISAPPOINTED after viewing them. Believe me (or not), you will learn VERY LITTLE about the Triangle Offense from these DVDs. Tex is working with young men that are learning the Triangle Offense on the fly, and he really doesn't do a good job of teaching it to them, nor do they do a good job of learning it. Also, a lot of the video deals with fast breaking into the Triangle Offense after a made or missed free throw (which really wasn't what I was expecting). Furthermore, there are very few, if any, drills presented that are useful or practical. As pathetic as it may seem, arguably the best part of this video is the footage of the Lakers and Bulls with narration (not by Tex); but the quality of the video is poor and many times during the Bulls footage the timing of the narration is off. If you want to learn the Triangle Offense skip this video and buy Tex Winter's book: The Triple-Post Offense (Sideline Triangle); this is an EXCELLENT book and costs much less than the video. However, if you insist on purchasing the video, I can almost guarantee that you will have buyer's remorse. You have been warned.

Coach Winter is one of the best teachers of the game ever. I love Triple Post Offense and used it with my teams too.
Therefore, there is no surprise that I gave this tapes the highest rate (5 stars). The lessons are on-the-court type, with the offense built 5vs0 full court. Every option is shown, with counters for pressing defenses too.
Not only the offense is explained in great detail, but specific drills are shown too.
A must-buy for anyone interested in this great offensive system.
