Mike Krzyzewski: Duke Basketball - Attacking the Zone

This is a fabulous DVD. Although it was made in 2005, every bit of this DVD is very applicable today. In a time of basketball where I believe zone defenses are becoming more effective than ever due to different variables in the game of basketball, this DVD is as important as ever due to Coach K's philosophy in attacking a zone.

Some coaches may view this as a simplistic way of attacking the zone since there is no set plays or actions, but it is certainly not simple. Coach K's philosophy versus zone requires the players to understand zone defense, and it requires the players to react to the defense as opposed to just running the play they are supposed to.

Coach K goes over attacking a 2 man front zone for about 20 minutes, and he goes over attacking a 1 man front zone for 10 minutes. The other 10 minutes of the DVD surprised me in how great they were, and they are spent on a breakdown drill for perimeter players versus the zone, and then on the other end of the floor going over breakdown drills for post players versus the zone while reinforcing Coach K's philosophies versus the zone.

I have many championship productions DVDs, and I like almost all of them, but this is right near the top.

Sound principles but very basic. I don't feel the brief 45 minute production was worth my $45.00. Kermit Davis dvd gives you much more for a better price.

Outstanding DVD. Love his stressing attack behind the zone. In top three zone attack DVDS just behind Kermit Davis Ultimate zone attack and Brad Brownell GAP attack. Well wotth the price!

I agree with everything that has been said having to do with the simplicity of the concepts that are taught. This video is zone offense based on principles, rather than on set plays. The video should be appealing to most motion offense coaches. The other thing that I like about this video (and most of Coach K's videos) is the lack of fluff. The video is always showing the things you need to know in order to teach the offense. This format makes it easy to navigate the DVD and reference what you need for a refresher before teaching the concepts.

Coach does a great job with a simple philosophy. You can teach this to your players as ideas and not a set play. Definitely recommend.

Amazed at how Coach K gets so much in just 45 minutes . . . no wasted clinic talk/lecturing. Coach gets right to it . . . We worth the money for any high school / middle school building a program.

I love the fact that this dvd shows a universal way to attack a zone. I have used this method for years and i bought the dvd for the wrinkles Coach K put in.

I would notice immediately if this video disappeared off my shelf.

I give this DVD a 5 star rating. Coach K is an excellent teacher. He is not a rambler and gets right to the point. Very simple offense that is not too predictable. Even Jr. High teams could utilize this offense.
