Eric Guerrero, Oklahoma State University head assistant coach and distinguished member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, has two young wrestlers demonstrate a head lever for you. The head lever can be used from the top position to get you in position to drive and circle the opponent’s hips to the mat.
Head Lever
Drill Summary: On the chop, slide your hand to the opponent’s wrist and keep pressure on them. From there, take both of your knees off to apply more pressure and drop your head under your opponent’s armpit. Next, drive and circle the opponent’s hips to the mat. From there, you could also elevate the opponent’s wrist, sit through with your opposite hip, duck in the arm and go for a pinning combination.
