University of Virginia assistant coach and member of the U.S. National Freestyle Wrestling Team, Keith Gavin, shows you a move he calls a “Shrug.” This move is used when you have an underhook secured and your opponent has you in a collar tie and can be transitioned into a takedown.
Shrug
Drill Summary: When you have an underhook and your opponent has a collar tie, the first move is to step in with the foot on the side of your opponent’s collar tie. After that, bump their arm off with your forearm (just above their elbow) and look away. From there, you can throw your opponent by you and take them to the ground. This move is especially effective if you can do it right away.
