Failing to have an answer in critical late game situations can spoil all of the effort your players have given to reach that point. In this video, Steve Forbes opens up his playbook to give you the solutions you need to succeed in tight, pressure-filled situations.

You will get 13 plays for special situations in addition to an assortment of concepts and strategies that will help you prevail in a variety of late-game situations. These plays have a proven track record for success; in 2016, Coach Forbes' team was 15-4 in games decided by 6 points or less.

Before you even begin to think about X's and O's, you need to establish a team culture that is going to give you a chance to prevail through adverse situations. Forbes shares strategies he uses to get his players to buy into their team culture. He covers his "team reality board," his team perception test, and practice planning. These ideas will enable you to emphasize your core values with players on a daily basis and help players understand their roles on the team.

Full Court "Home Run" Plays

In the final moments of close games, you have to be prepared to score from any spot on the court. Coach Forbes gives you the tools you need to go the full length of the court to score with two home run plays. Whether it's dead ball situations out of a timeout or something your players have to snap into after a made basket, Forbes has a play you can use.

Push and Play Early Offense

Coach Forbes demonstrates his "Push and Play" series of plays that will allow your team to flow right into their offense. In 'Memphis,' players sprint from a free throw right into his version of dribble-drive offense to find scoring opportunities without having to burn a timeout. Memphis is great to utilize when you only need a two-point basket. It also puts the pressure on the officials to call a foul on the driver.

'Shocker' is fast break play to open up your best shooter for a late game 3-point opportunity. This play uses a dribble hand-off, a ball screen, and a flare screen to get that crucial last-second basket.

6-Second Play

Coach Forbes provides three amazing 6-second plays to help coaches prepare for the game's most stressful moments. In 'Box Timeout,' Forbes gives you a simple, but effective play to advance the ball to half court without wasting any time on the clock in order to call time out and set up a sideline play.

Sideline Inbounds Plays

Any NBA coach will tell you it's an absolute necessity to have a playbook of sideline inbound plays for late game situations. This ends up being the location where many of your wins or losses might be determined! Coach Forbes demonstrates eight inbound plays that he has personally used in close games.
