Build Accountability, Effort & Defensive Identity
Kelvin Sampson has built Houston into one of the toughest, most disciplined programs in college basketball; his teams play with unmatched effort, defend relentlessly, and win through attention to detail. In this video, Coach Sampson shows you exactly how he establishes standards, holds players accountable, and teaches one of the most effective pick and roll defenses in the game today.

Culture Comes First
The foundation of Sampson's success begins with culture. He explains how setting clear expectations and holding players to non-negotiables like attitude and effort creates accountability throughout the program. You'll be challenged to reflect on your own standards and how to instill them in your team.

Defending the Pick & Roll
Coach Sampson teaches his "line of scrimmage" concept for defending the middle pick and roll, showing how communication, positioning, and toughness can take away driving lanes and control the roller. You'll learn how to guard both short roll and long roll actions, as well as strategies to protect the paint against elite guards.

Offensive Simplicity, Maximum Pressure
On offense, Sampson details simple yet effective actions that complement pick and roll play. From spacing techniques to off-ball flare screens, you'll see how to create constant pressure on defenses while maintaining offensive structure and efficiency.

Leadership & Program Standards
The video concludes with valuable leadership insights, as Coach Sampson discusses how he builds trust, fosters competition in practice, and develops players who give maximum effort every day. His approach combines culture, defensive toughness, and efficient offense making this an invaluable resource for coaches who want to build teams with identity and accountability.

Was a little disappointed in this purchase. While Sampson is obviously a great coach, he often skips over the details in this video, and will get off topic. I was hoping for a more in-depth explanation of his PNR defense.
