He takes pride in developing players to play at their best by being aggressive and attacking defenses without fear.In this video, you will get an inside look at how Altman teaches his players to use the Spread offense. Included are transition strategies, half court systems, and set plays to help you pick apart man-to-man defenses.PhilosophyContinuity offenses create predictability and repetition, which don't allow players to learn to read the defense and play basketball. Coach Altman teaches an offensive system that is flexible to situations and adaptable to the talent you have in your program. The Spread offense uses actions to create motion within your offense, but allows players to make decisions based on how the defense adjusts to your actions and personnel. Your players will learn to be quick decision makers by reading situations on the court rather than thinking about where they need to pass to next.TransitionForcing your opponent to guard you for 94 feet will wear them down and make your players' decisions easier during games. Coach Altman demonstrates how to push the ball up the floor and spread it around through quick passes ahead or by having guards keep the ball within the "pro lane." This will force your opponents to make a decision to guard your point guard attacking the middle of the paint, or stop the hit ahead pass up the floor. Altman also touches on how you can use various drag screens within your transition game to spread the floor and create downhill scoring opportunities.Half Court OffenseOnce teams have settled into their half court offense, players tend to have more decisions to make. Within the Spread offense, players start in various 4-out alignments to create scoring angles and opportunities. Your players will learn to look for a wing entry to get the action going as well as various other actions, including hitting the duck pass at the high post. The high post pass will isolate and open the floor for a guard to be able to attack the basket or allow your post/wing players to go to work. Coach Altman has been using this offensive style long before it became popular in today's game. Using a Spread offense rather than a continuity motion offense has allowed his teams to be very successful. This video will help you make your offense fun for your players and allow you to teach them to read a defense so your offense is unscoutable for the teams you'll play during the season!71 minutes. 2019. He begins with his transition concepts & a couple other actions before he gets into the Spread. This isn't quite as detailed as some of his other Spread videos but he covers a lot of ground.
