AAU Coaching Girls Basketball Series: Full and Half Court Team Offense

Sherri Coale provides viewers with a complete tutorial on all things offense. Whether you are looking for a continuity man offense, set plays, or a zone offense, you will find something you can implement immediately into your offensive system to make you team successful.

Man-to-Man Offense
Coach Coale provides a basic outline to a man-to-man continuity system that is easy to install - and can be the foundation for building a motion system. She demonstrates and outlines her 5-Game Motion Offense which is ideal for a team whose players are the same size and skill level. The screen away motion creates good movement with two players coming to the ball off of a screen.

She also outlines and demonstrates a 4-Game Motion Offense. This offense allows you to keep a post player near the basket and incorporates cuts and screens while spreading the floor to create dribble penetration.

In both offenses, Coale shows how to use the cuts and skills taught in the offensive fundamental DVD and how to incorporate them into a continuity offense.

Zone Offense
Learn how to use your post players to seal in and seal out in order to create advantages in the post against the middle man of a 2-3 zone. Coale demonstrates how players can attack the gaps by asking themselves "who is guarding me" and "where did they come from." With this mentality, your players will be able to attack a zone defense from any angle on the floor including the most obvious spot: the high post.

Just as Coach Coale demonstrated a set play to counter man defense, she also demonstrates several easy to teach sets against a zone. The sets contain multiple scoring looks that become available when the defense takes away the primary look.

Sideline and Baseline Inbounds
Instead of looking to "just get the ball in," Coach Coale outlines several scoring options against zone and man defense from a baseline out of bounds or sideline out of bounds set. In each set, she walks you through every scoring option and how to tweak these options to keep you opponents on their toes.

Transition
Coale outlines what an offensive player needs to do every time down the floor on a fast break: Get fouled, move the ball, and make a decision. She details a basic secondary break that your players can use to score from the inside or the outside against any defense, how to teach the secondary break and how to make it flow easily into your continuity offense.

Press Breakers
Coach Coale uses her final segment to build a full court press break that will quickly and efficiently break either a man or a zone defense. She teaches her players to keep it simple and then drills the idea in a 2-on-2 safe and secure drill that teaches her players to be strong with the ball. She finishes with two last-second plays that are able to get your best players the shot they need to win the game.
