University of Virginia Head Coach, Steve Garland, demonstrates a fun scramble exercise called the Low Single Leg Scramble Drill. This drill gets your wrestlers fighting out of a bad position and puts them in position to score. It is an easy and safe drill for your wrestlers.
Your wrestlers will get comfortable with defending a low single leg attack by going on the attack immediately.
Jordan Leen, 2008 NCAA Champion at Cornell, goes over a segment called “Drills.” He teaches both Inside and Outside Locks and explains that wrestlers may be able to set up different locks on their own, in their own way to get to the perfect lock. He also demonstrates how to climb up from a False Lock to a Relock.
Jordan stresses that to be good at this technique one must be able to use their feet like hands.

Whenever an opponent gets his head down the opportunity to score is there and with Coach Garland’s Re-Shot Drill your wrestlers will be able to capitalize on their opponent’s mistakes and put two more points on the board.

Single Legs are a fundamental element of any successful wrestler and Coach Garland has simplified it so it will work on a high level, but can be practiced by a beginner. The ‘Single Leg Drill’ will teach you how to move your opponent while keeping good position so you can finish the takedown on anyone.
