See How Scot Davis Teaches Wrestlers to Slide-By!

By Kevin Fitzpatrick - Last updated: Monday, June 1, 2015

Two-time national high school coach of the year, Scot Davis, takes his wrestlers through the steps to do a slide-by in this clip. Using a slide-by gives wrestlers the potential to take their opponent to the ground and gain control of the match.

Slide-By

Drill Summary: After the wrestler gets their opponent in a collar tie, the first step to a slide-by is to reach up with their other arm and push the opponent’s arm into the side of their head. Once the opponent’s arm is out of the way, the wrestler steps in and catches the opponent’s upper body between their arms. From there, it’s likely that the wrestler can take their opponent to the ground.
