The University of Arizona softball program completed the 2010 season with an overall record of 52-14 and was the 2010 WCWS Runners-Up! Head Coach Mike Candrea has led the Wildcats to 22 Women’s College World Series appearances in 23 years. During that span, Candrea has won eight NCAA national championships and finished as runner-up five times. Candrea has compiled a 1229-259-2 (.825) overall record in 35 years as head coach. The University of Arizona (coached by Mike Candrea) and the University of Florida (coached by Tim Walton) both advanced to the 2010 Women’s College World Series. Arizona (48-11) enters the WCWS for the 22nd time in the past 23 years by defeating BYU in NCAA Division I Super Regional play. Florida (48-8) enters the WCWS for the third consecutive year (2008-2010) by defeating Arizona State in the NCAA Division I Super Regional.
The University of Arizona (coached by Mike Candrea) and BYU, both 46-11, will square off in Super Regional play of the NCAA Softball Championships. Arizona defeated Cornell and Hofstra twice in regional play, while BYU defeated #12 Texas and East Carolina twice. Competition will begin in Tucson on May 28. The winner will advance to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, OK.

Mike Candrea is the Head Softball Coach at the University of Arizona who is currently ranked #2 in the USA Today/ NFCA Top 25. Candrea has guided the Wildcats to 8 NCAA Championships and was the 2004 and 2008 US Olympic Softball Coach.
Tim Walton is the Head Softball Coach at the University of Florida who is currently ranked #3 in the USA Today / NFCA Top 25. Walton has guided the Gators to the 2008 and 2009 Women’s College World Series where his teams advanced to the semifinals and finals.
