John Smith, Head Wrestling Coach at Oklahoma State University, gives you excellent advice for set-ups and tie-ups. Coach Smith is a 5x NCAA Championship Coach and as an athlete, a 2x Olympic Gold Medalist. See how you can secure your opponent on the mat during your next meet.
The first set up from the inside tie begins with a head snap. Create space and move toward the inside tie side (create an angle) as you pass the arm by and execute a leg attack. Second, Smith demonstrates a slight variation on the head snap, a steering wheel motion snap, again to an elbow pass and leg attack.
