Conference Football Championship is on the Line

We’re in the month of November and many conference championships will be decided in all divisions.

In the NAIA, Morningside College (9-0, 9-0), ranked #4, will play the defending national champion and #1 ranked Sioux Falls College (10-0, 9-0) for the Great Plains Athletic Conference championship on Saturday. Sioux Falls’ 3-4 Defense is ranked #1 and only allowing 6.7 points per game while the Sioux Falls’ Offense is ranked #2 in Scoring Offense (53.8 pts/game). On the other side of the ball, the Morningside Offense is ranked #3 in Scoring Offense (52.8 pts/ game).

John Gregory Leads Barnstormers to Playoff Birth!

John Gregory, head football coach of the Iowa Barnstormers, has guided his team to a 13-4 record. The Barnstormers are entering the second round of the Arena Football League playoffs and will face their division rivals, the Green Bay Blizzard. The two teams split a pair of matchups earlier this season as each team won on the opponent’s home turf. Iowa defeated Green Bay 46-41 on May 8 in Green Bay, but the Blizzard got their revenge with a 71-65 overtime victory over the Barnstormers on June 13 in Des Moines.

We have recently released three new football DVDs on the Trojan Offense. The Trojan Offense is presented by Chris Merritt, the Head Football Coach at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Florida. Merritt has guided the Explorers to six district titles in eight years (2001 – 2008). Merritt was also the defensive back and special teams coach for the 2009 USA Football team that won the Junior World Championship at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Previously, Merritt was an Assistant Football Coach at Thiel College and served as the Head Football Coach / Director of Football Operations for the Hamburg Blue Devils (Hamburg, Germany).

Merritt, Specht Guide USA Football to Gold Medal!

Chris Merritt (Defensive Backs & Special Teams) and Steve Specht (Defensive Coordinator) helped coach the United States to a Gold Medal at the IFAF Junior World Championships, an inaugural tournament being contested at Fawcett Stadium which consisted of players aged 19 and younger from eight countries, spanning four continents. Team USA went 3-0 through the tournament, defeating France, Mexico, and Canada by a combined score of 174 – 3.
