Former Auburn University swimming standout, Cesar Cielo, shattered Eamon Sullivan’s official world record time of 47.05 to become just the second man in history to break the 47-second barrier. Cielo completed the 100m freestyle in 46.91 after finishing the final 50m with a 24.74 split. His time surpassed Alain Bernard’s recorded time of 46.94 at the 2009 French Trials.
Cielo’s teamate, Fred Bousquet, finished the 100m in 3rd place with a time of 47.25. Bousquet is the current world record holder in the 50m freestyle with a time of 20.94. Cielo & Bousquet are both featured demonstrators in Richard Quick’s Faster Fast Sprint Freestyle Series. The DVD series was produced by Brett Hawke and Richard Quick.
