The Keys to the 5-1 Offensive System!

By nate.landas - Last updated: Sunday, June 1, 2014

University of Louisville Head Coach, Anne Kordes, goes over the most popular system in volleyball which utilizes only 1 setter and 5 attackers. This formation demands a very good setter who is the team leader, possessing knowledge of volleyball strategy, enthusiasm and the ability to provide clear communication to the team.

5-1 Offensive System

Coach Kordes demonstrates multiple 5-1 options on the rotations following receiving the serve. The coach explains which option to select based on the talent at each position. In the 5-1, the hitters rotate to the front row with the setter. The hitters to the right and the left of the setter are the team’s strongest players.

Learn the Benefits of the 4-2 Offensive System!

By nate.landas - Last updated: Sunday, February 9, 2014

University of Louisville Head Coach Anne Kordes teaches you how to implement the 4-2 offensive system. The 4-2 offensive system is an excellent formation for young teams with limited offensive ability. Watching this segment will show you the simplicity of teaching the formation.

4-2 Offensive System

This formation has 4 hitters and 2 setters and places 2 setters in the front row along with 1 outside hitter. One setter is in the middle at the net, the other setter is on the side and the outside hitter is on the other outside. The outside setter and hitters are slightly behind or back from the center setter. A good hitter should be stationed at the mid-line behind the setter for a quick hit at the net.
