			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Former Auburn University swimming standout, Cesar Cielo, shattered Eamon Sullivan&#8217;s official world record time of 47.05 to become just the second man in history to break the 47-second barrier.  Cielo completed the 100m freestyle in 46.91 after finishing the final 50m with a 24.74 split.  His time surpassed Alain Bernard&#8217;s recorded time of 46.94 at the 2009 French Trials. </p>
<p>Cielo&#8217;s teamate, Fred Bousquet, finished the 100m in 3rd place with a time of 47.25.  Bousquet is the current world record holder in the 50m freestyle with a time of 20.94.  Cielo &amp; Bousquet are both featured demonstrators in <a href="http://www.championshipproductions.com/cgi-bin/champ/p/Swimming/Richard-Quicks-Faster-Fast-Sprint-Freestyle-Series_MD-03140.html"><strong>Richard Quick&#8217;s Faster Fast Sprint Freestyle Series</strong></a>.  The DVD series was produced by <a title="Brett Hawke" href="http://www.championshipproductions.com/cgi-bin/champ/auth/2193/Brett-Hawke.html">Brett Hawke</a> and <a title="Richard Quick" href="http://www.championshipproductions.com/cgi-bin/champ/auth/1364/Richard-Quick.html">Richard Quick</a>.<strong><br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Auburn coach <a title="Richard Quick" href="http://www.championshipproductions.com/cgi-bin/champ/auth/1364/RichardQuick.html">Richard Quick</a>, a legendary college swimming coach whose long career included NCAA championships and the Olympics, passed away at age 66.  Quick was a member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame and his 13 NCAA team titles are the most ever by a head coach.  Quick&#8217;s coaching career included stints as Auburn, Stanford, Texas, Iowa State, and SMU.  He was also the United States&#8217; Olympic head coach in 1998, 1996, and 2000.  Quick was a great friend of Championship Productions and authored three incredible series with us &#8211; <em>Championship Winning Swimming</em>, <em>Becoming a Champion Swimmer</em>, and <em>Richard Quick&#8217;s Faster Fast Freestyle Series</em>.  We have enjoyed working with Quick and his death will leave a large void within the swimming community.</p>

Quick, who is the first coach to win a national title at three schools, is battling an inoperable brain tumor that was diagnosed in December 2008. Quick was not in College Station for the championships, as the Tigers were directed by assistant <a href="http://www.championshipproductions.com/cgi-bin/champ/auth/2193/Brett-Hawke.html" title="Brett Hawke"><font color="#243e68">Brett Hawke</font></a>.  Hawke has led the program since Quick&#8217;s diagnosis.  Quick won seven national titles at Stanford and five at Texas to accompany his first at Auburn.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[The University of Arizona Wildcats won their first Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s Swimming Title at the 2008 NCAA Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s Swimming and Diving Championships.   Head Coach Frank Busch was named the NCAA Swimming Coach of the Year for the Men and Women.

<p>The Wildcat men finished with 500 team points, followed by Texas (406 points) and Stanford (344.4 points).</p>
