La. Tech Hires Sonny Dykes as New Head Football Coach!

Louisiana Tech has named the Arizona Wildcats’ offensive coordinator, Sonny (Daniel) Dykes, as their head football coach. Dykes, a collegiate coach for the past 15 years, will replace Derek Dooley who accepted the head coach vacancy at Tennessee. Dykes has served as Arizona’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach since 2007. Prior to his position at Arizona, he spent time on Mike Leach’s staff at Texas Tech. Known as a spread offense specialist, Dykes’s scheme has set numerous records at Arizona and Texas Tech.

Pete Caroll has hired Brian Schneider to be the Seattle Seahawks’ Special Teams Coordinator. Schneider held the same position under Carroll at USC. Prior to his position at USC, Schneider had been the Special Teams Coach for the Oakland Raiders, Iowa State University, and UCLA.

Kalen DeBoer Named 2009 AFCA NAIA Coach of the Year!

University of Sioux Falls head football coach, Kalen DeBoer, is the 2009 AFCA NAIA Coach of the Year! This is the third AFCA Coach of the Year Award for DeBoer, also receiving the award in 2006 and 2008. DeBoer was also named Region 4 NAIA Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, and 2009.

DeBoer has accumulated an impressive 67-3 record in five seasons as the Cougar’s head coach. This season’s perfect record (15-0), coupled with last season’s 14-0 record, gives USF the nation’s longest winning streak regardless of level.

The University of Nevada led the NCAA FBS in Rushing Offense during the 2009 season. Chris Klenakis‘ offensive squad utilized the Pistol Offense to average 344.9 rushing yards per game and 7.4 yeard per carry. Conference Football Championship is on the Line

We’re in the month of November and many conference championships will be decided in all divisions.

In the NAIA, Morningside College (9-0, 9-0), ranked #4, will play the defending national champion and #1 ranked Sioux Falls College (10-0, 9-0) for the Great Plains Athletic Conference championship on Saturday. Sioux Falls’ 3-4 Defense is ranked #1 and only allowing 6.7 points per game while the Sioux Falls’ Offense is ranked #2 in Scoring Offense (53.8 pts/game). On the other side of the ball, the Morningside Offense is ranked #3 in Scoring Offense (52.8 pts/ game).
